Ok, so whatever this is that's going around smacked first my wife and now me. Tried to suck it up and work through it but now I'm back on the couch feeling worse then before. (Start the violins please) It shouldn't be a huge surprise but I found a rotten way of spending my time while feeling miserable and sorry for myself...please pass the cheese and crackers to go with my whine. Generally I really like HGTV. I like the various "fix up" shows on the network. Some (like Holmes on Homes) show good construction work while some make me feel like a genius compared to the "contractors" they have working on the set. I actually saw a show where they used untreated plywood as exterior fence material. Say what?! Unfortunately over the weekend I found myself too tired/lazy/half asleep to turn channels as they switched from DYI shows to home buying (House Hunters...etc.). I swear that every show I watched one day had either overly dramatic self entitled divas with expectations 10x what their budgets could afford or testicularly challenged pretty boy men who had no idea what real work consisted of!!! Ok my rant/whine is over. I just needed to vent to guys that understand how to work and that good things come from hard work! Now where are my fuzzy slippers?
Licensed contractor, all that means is they bought a license. A lot of the practices on those shows are laughable. Some as you stated are very good, most are for ratings. get well soon.
Hope you're feeling better. This is a very nasty virus. I just got my new fuzzy slippers (winter Crocs) for my birthday: I looked up what size and color I wanted on Amazon and sent a link to my daughter so my family could order them for my birthday. On my birthday a week ago they still hadn't arrived so we looked up the tracking and they were projected to be delivered next month. I didn't realize the Amazon vendor for the size and color Crocs I wanted was in Germany. Fortunately they showed up today. I can't understand how they can ship them from Europe for the same shipping charges as within the USA.
My wife loves just about every show on DIY and HGTV I like Holmes he does great work and really cares about what he does and his customers. Most of the shows are stupid and yes full of self entitled divas and testicularly challenged men. I also like Nicole Curtis she does rehab addict. My wife has come up with several really good ideas from watching all of those shows so I guess its not to terrible that its pretty much the only thing on tv in my house.
I was expecting a pair of lined moccasins for Christmas.......got a pair of Crocs instead. I gotta admit, they aren't half bad. Feel better schlot.

Just getting over something that made me feel like I was freezing & even made my hair hurt, 20 hours of, off & on bed rest & bathroom visits. 3rd day afterward I'm eating real food again. Glad for Olympic hockey on TV. "pass the cheese, but no wine just yet" LOL
