The wife wanted some help this morning which took about three hours so I'll put this off until tomorrow. I told the wife that I would make some spaghetti sauce today so that's happening after this glass of water, sauce with kidney beans for me tonight.
This was the damaged Birch I've been working my way back to, I pulled some of the junk wood out of the trail and then dropped the tree which had a peppermint type smell to it, anyway I hauled out (I missed the first load) 45 rounds.
Looks like you had a nice day in the woods also. Wind and hail pushed me out. Hope you got to make it longer than I did.
It started to sleet with freezing rain about an hour ago. After hitting the treadmill this morning we put in two loads of wood before the rain comes in so I worked in that area from 11 to 3. I actually had to shovel the snow off the down chit. I'm back in 15-20 feet deeper from where I started today, lots of damaged Birch (yellow I hope) in this area. The wife came back when I was cutting so I told her what my plan was and she agreed, it will involve the backhoe this spring,
These two Birch will come down tomorrow, I have a few things that I have to do before so it might be after 11 a.m., hopefully the tops aren't that rotten.

Originally I wanted one trail in this new section tractor ready by spring, that's done to a certain point already. I'll have some backhoe work on the entrance to the hill in the back. Another goal is to open up the gully/small ravine so the rhino and maybe the tractor can get in there. I plan on taking out part of the small hill on the left.
It's all of the staff, especially Grizzly Adam and all the hard work he does! And all of the faithful members here!! You all make this place what it is growing to be!
After sanding the driveway the guys from the Wood Chop Chop showed up to see if they could find a small leak of antifreeze on the Mahindra, we let it run for 25 minutes and nothing was leaking so they snugged up a few hose clamps and said to keep an eye on it. I made another run over to the Wood Chop Shop for a few things I forgot the other day and to pick that grease fitting up for the backhoe I snapped off, it's been in since November, it even fit. It was raining most of the day so I said screw the Birch until tomorrow.
The two Yellow Birch are down, pic 0982 is the first tree, 0983 is part of the first tree, 0984 is the second Yellow Birch,0985 are some rounds,0986 is what's left,0987 you can see the bark turn orange/yellowish after you cut it and the last two are what went to the splitting pile. The steak will test good tonight.
Thanks yooperdave , the steak tasted great with a hot tomato salad, a regular salad and a broccoli salad so I'm full but have some good energy for a few more damaged Yellow Birch tomorrow.
I had the 310 and finally grabbed the 390 which did most of the chip throwing. The other day I spent some time on the grinder sharpening 16-18 chains and also took down the rakers on the chain on the 390.
The Yellow Birch in the back just before the hill starts are next, I'll check again but I think both are damaged. I don't have a pic but we have a nice pile of Yellow Birch going, maybe it's time I split some this weekend.
I'll try and get back here tomorrow in the afternoon with the rhino and the tractor, once I'm done getting the yellow birch off the mound I might try and pull that downed pine off after I limb it up. I just hope I can get a cable or chain underneath it.
