Another Blizzard warning!

    BOOM... There you have it! We're labeling this one as the "Blizzard of 2014," which means yes, this looks to be the "Big Daddy" of the year! What's different ab...out this storm compared to others this Winter and over the past few Winters, is that we're dealing with a "Miller A" storm system. In simple terms, this means we have a large storm system originating from the Gulf of Mexico, and phasing together with several jet streams just offshore the eastern seaboard... For those of you new to this, that's how you get a blizzard! Notice the area highlighted in orange... Within that zone, we're expecting blizzard conditions to take place on Thursday. Not only that, but now we have to start watching for the possibility of strong winds and coastal flooding due to the nature of this storm, meaning there could be some very serious consequences besides heavy snowfall. This is not a quick moving storm either, and may bring heavy snow, strong winds, and flooding for hours on end. Make sure this information gets out to the people who need it by sharing with family and friends... More updates later tonight!
    If we get snow in Maine, that is, well better than ice. But there is a chance of the storm moving more inland and that means lower snow, but freezing rain in place of the snow. Below zero temps tonight. Storm hits here Thursday afternoon.

    yup, planning on not going to work Thursday over this one. 12"+ I'll be shoveling all day. We are right on the target of the heaviest stuff. Around here, its supposed to be another wet very heavy snow. Zap, again, why oh why didn't I get a plow for the grizzly?? I should have listened to ya.

    We're in the anywhere from 3"- 24" zone. Noone knows really. I've been buttoning everything up on our equipment at work since monday and hoping it all holds together through this one. It's gonna be a lonnnnnng thursday. :confused: And im gonna need alot of these come friday :drunk:

    Scotty i'll fire up all the leaf blowers we got and turn em your way. Hopefully i can blow this sumbeech out west

    One local TV station said our area was gonna get 8"-10"… another said over 11"… and both said it was gonna be wet and heavy snow. Then cold later this week. It'll make a great solid base down in the woods for sure. Not gonna be a lot of fun to move with either muscle or machine.

    Sure will be perty though… :popcorn: :fire:

    A little at a time with that heavy stuff. Much better to shovel 4" of it at a time than try moving 10-14 inches all in the same clearing of it. Even if you can't be there, moving it in 4" layers as you shovel along can save your back, arms, etc. Snow blowers and loaders are great for that heavy stuff. I still think it would be great to have one of these big monsters.

    Local news is calling for 12"-20" now. I think we'll get 20"+ due the the fact we received 8"already and it's supposed to snow until midnight. Winds are picking up, and I should shovel a path to the shed for easier access in case of an outage.

    We had almost nothing at 7:00 am then it started coming on hard. Going on 6" 3.5 hours later.
