ive started "boarding it" as of last night, laying out the framework for a book i'd like to title
"so you want to heat with wood"
    "woodburning 101"
this will be a private venture not associated with the company I work for. its intent is to hopefully provide guidance in the key elements of the lifestyle of wood burning, the principles of chimney dynamics, and the planning which should be involved in locating a stove in the house , addressing the limitations of locations in relations to chimney placement, proper seasoning and storage of wood, fire building, chimney maintenance, and so on.
I have a lot of material I have whimsically generated and stored in my computers both at home and at work which will help as im hoping to compile a lot of this into the framework of the book.
its my hope that I can produce a book which addresses one of the most serious problems with modern wood burning. the lack of education present in the typical person or family that wishes to welcome a woodstove into their home. ive spent the better part of 20 years studying this topic and helping those who call on me in my official capacity for this type of advice. why not compile as much of the knowledge I have gained over the years and make it readily available to folks who are thinking about getting into the wood burning lifestyle.
wish me luck gang, its probably the biggest project ive ever in my life attempted

gonna be a while yet , note this project is still in the womb doc aint even "spanked the butt" yet give me some months. I just wanted to make a note of it as I will be including anecdotal information as well as the science of it. a lot of that will come from hearth based forums such as this one and others. the sites which this information is gleaned will be recognized in the book's bibliography assuming the owners of the sites are ok with that.

Well Mike, I'd have to say you are a man that knows the craft! Put me down for a "signed" copy, if you will!

I think, with proper education to those that just getting started in the world of heating with wood (as well as some seasoned burners out there), that we can get more and more efficient (and SAFE) in doing so. A book about wood types, seasoning times, efficient stoves and different burning techniques would certainly be a step in the right direction! I'm sure that would be a good seller. .......

well, im going to give it the best shot I can. in the computer age I think it can be done. the book will be written, if it gets published I think it would be a great thing. even if it isn't published i'll find a way to get it out there (too dammed much work to waste) but , ive seen too many threads on sites talking about house fires due to accidents with wood burning, they always touch me. I find myself wondering "what if they knew what I do?" so , if I write a book and it prevents just one of them, if I keep one family from having to stand next to a big red truck and watch as their world gets destroyed, its worth every second of poring over a word processed diatribe.

    Good luck, Mike.

Heck, with the collective talent here, we could turn it into a feature film and see it on the big screen.

    Or at least FHC-TV :drunk:

Have you read the couple books already published on the subject?

My brother has one, its something like "A man, a saw and a stove" goes over everything from managing a wood lot, cutting, saws, axes, splitters, splitting, stoves, chimneys, etc.

Will it have pictures? I like pictures. And the cut-out you put your fingers through to make bunny ears. Could do that to make finger-flames. :D
