    IMG_4906.JPG IMG_4907.JPG Went to Charlotte this past weekend, this was for rent at HD, never seen one before-Had made in USA label on it, 9hp Subaru-looked serious heavy duty-those split catchers had rubber flex to extend up and down-I liked the look of it-nice wide profile and plenty heavy...Whats the 411 here?

    It seems to be a pretty heavy duty unit if it's designed to be rented.

    Drop down to remove a stuck block on the wedge when retracting. Good idea.

    Have they stopped making Subaru small engines? I have one on my Ariens 27 ton and it works great. Starts first or second pull every time.


    Edit: just looked it up. Interesting. Subaru exits small engine market

    I've had 2 Subaru 9hp's. They're great untill death which seems to be premature, seems they have an issue oiling properly

    Funny cause I was once told that Subaru's were technically superior while using several fewer parts and they were poised to over take Honda in the small engine market :rolleyes:

    Well I guess the sales pitched kind of worked. I was already sold on the Ariens splitter and just figured the Subaru was an added bonus.

    well at least they are going to be made by another company with small engine experience- Yamaha hasn't been decent to me over the years. Something I can't say about a couple of domestic mfg.

    I am liking the china Honda clone engines lately. Honda parts swap, there are knock off parts for them on ebay etc , their cheap and start just as easy as honda. Predator engines are good!

    Sounds wonderful-I love the looks of it-went to the site, couldnt get a price, noted you can choose either that engine or a GX Honda...I just was curious cause I'd never seen one of all the splitters we get to see here-Their site is tailored towards the rental business and mentions ROI quite a bit-I wont be surprised if one doesnt pop up here-Appears they sell them used on occasion too

    Used to be the mechanic at a rental shop and we had a baretto trencher it was a real animal direct drive fully hydraulic pretty well designed just a heavy machine
