Buddy called me up and said the town took down a big one in his easement and haven't been back for a few days so it's just been sitting there. The town contracts out to different tree companies so I don't know what's going on, maybe they got busy or maybe they don't like to work in the rain. Anyways went over and cut up a truckload, that was enough for me. While I do burn a bunch of silver I guess that's the beauty of being ahead, you can be a bit of a wood snob. If it had been oak or sugar maple I probably would have taken a lot more. I noticed the 372 made a popping noise a couple times on startup tonight, right when I yanked the cord. Didn't really sound too great actually. Who can give me some clues as to what that might be? Seemed to be running fine. Anyways, couple pics for ya fellas. New wood is all the lighter colored blocks.
Can't help you with the saw but nice score. I like silver maple. I burn about a half cord a year but I think I'm out now. I won't have any for next year. Bummer
You can be a snob AND cut the less knotty stuff for easy splitting. Silver maple I get is from city trees so the grain gets twisty. But it still splits ok.
I would check the spark arrester screen and the air filter. It sounds like some kind of air flow restriction to me.
