The kitchen table is the last thing that gets burned.... Although it would make a good video for this crowd!
If a splitting about one cord will wear it out, then it's about shot..... Like I said before, I've hand split for a long time and I know the pieces that are going to wear me out even before I swing the maul at them. Now it's been a gas, finding the most impossible knotty crotch and slicing right through it. Hydraulics are impressive
Yup, they are. Talkin about "knowing" when a piece is gonna be a pain… I was swinging my 30" hookeroon today at the ash and oak splits. The tip is pretty sharp and I had to be careful not to drive it too hard or I'd be 10 minutes getting it out. I took a swing at one of the bigger chunks of oak, a little harder each time. It just kept clanking off like I was hitting a steel plate. I am very thankful I wasn't trying to split it with a maul… … hydraulics…
Hey Fanatical1. How's your splitter treating you man? We need pictures of lots of wood all split and stacked.
Gas, It's been 3 seasons now with the splitter and I don't think I've used the maul but a couple times since. I should have bought a splitter years ago..... I can get so much work done in a short amount of time. I think Stinny was wrong though, you sleep with them more than just the first night...
Very nice! They are awesome. I have not had my American CLS out in a WHILE. I have a couple piles of logs off the property I need to get bucked up and then pull it out and put it to work.
That's a dandy looking splitter, great looking stacks and a relief to me that its being used in the proper position too!
Yes, same for my little 5 ton; no way I could be swinging mauls to split wood. I need to start thinking about improvements such as making it higher off the ground.
