Just in case we need to relocate to my only other non electric heat source, two full totes into the shop. I've never had this big of a bare spot in the racks and I'm a bit nervous.
Good to be ready. I'm gonna go bring another cord to the house myself Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
The weatherman says we may get .75" here. My wife said there may be firewood opportunities. The glass is half full. We have prepared as much as possible.
Stay safe Unicorn1 and other members in the Ice Zone! On a side note, we had the same Nissan tow motor at work- loved that machine!
You know it's funny 32 years including three different GM factories, drove a fork truck occasionally myself, some of the frame yard guys referenced them as a tow motor, but inside the factories everyone just called them fork trucks, people that work in small shops, call them hi lows, at one point I didn't even know what they were talking about. Seems odd to me to call it a high low when there are many versions some of them are low to medium not high at all, Transporters only left the stock 10 inches above the ground. Just something weird I have observed
Freezing rain/sleet in the forecast here until Sunday noon but only about 1/4 inch of accumulation. Naturally I need to drive 50 miles to an auction tomorrow and I can't just skip it. I am the club president so I would be missed. If I take it slow and stay on my toes it should be no problem driving but the parking lot may be fun. Winds are forecast at under 10 MPH so we probably won't lose power or have many trees fall.
You think that's weird? They are called jeeps where I work . Still can figure out why after almost 8 years.
that's a new one on me. Even though they weigh a lot, in slick situations they don't have traction for crap. I guess that would depend on what tires fork truck is fitted with though. Hard rubber tires
Historically, I've referred to them as a fork lift, but folks in this Southern factory say "tow motor." When in Rome....
Fun, when you have 2, 11 thousand lb. fork trucks collide together that are going in reverse full speed
We only got about 2/10" of ice broke one 6" limb out of a cedar in the yard otherwise it all looks good here has changed back over to rain.
When I left the house at around 06:30 I had a hard time walking 40 feet to the car across the grass. The ice wasn't very thick but it sure was slick. I drove to McD's for a quick breakfast so I could get back on the road to my auction. Walking back to my car I stopped walking completely at one point and just drifted forward about 2 feet. Once I was on the interstate things got a lot better. I was able to drive at 50 to 55 MPH without too much risk of losing control. When I arrived at the auction and parked it was all I could do to stay on my feet walking from the car door about 6 feet to the grass at the edge of the parking lot. After being indoors for 5 hours while the rain continued it was a non-event coming home. The temperature has risen just enough that now the rain was melting the ice on the parking lots instead of adding to it.
Couple more limbs broke but it's all gone now. Just raining, now we've had >2" rain in last 48 hours but temp is 33* wish it would either cool of and snow or warm up I hate rain at 33*
