Hey, that is a nice weight for those that can't handle the 40# bags like they used to. And that 2 cost the same as one 40# bag can't be beat!
Got them for 25% off on clearance, a little pricey at $4.00 ea. Waiting for another 10% deal to get more. Can't wait to try them, gotta get through the storm hitting us today & tonight first.
Have been burning them Lauzon's in the furnace with the highest temp of 142*F but on the T-stat mode. Not a good reliable reading as I had on the 172*F before shutdown for cleaning which ran on manual for a longer period to empty the hopper. The mix was Okies, Ecoenergetic, a little corn and a little rye seeds. It's starting to get mild here for the week so the furnace is going down and the Harman is getting cleaned and will be popping the Lauzon's in. The Lauzon pellets are shorter, hard and has a nice shine to the sides which just glides easily(1st pic). The Ecoenergetic's are longer in length and softer but they're softwood's and not hardwood's(2nd pic). I would be afraid of log jamming with these as they've lots of long ones.
I've been running the furnace on manual highest feed for the past hour and the temps has risen to 149*F however I noticed the distribution fan speed on manual is on low(600cfm) versus the T-stat mode(800cfm). The 172*F from the mix was the same feed rate so I will be using that as a reference point for future testings. The outside air should be a factor to consider too as it is warmer today(32*F) versus the approx. -4*F the other day.
Stayed up late last night to try the Okies Platinum, got 142*F. Cranked up this morning to try the Force's again along with the Granulco's. Outside temps is around 25*F.
Force's 150*F Granulco's 155*F Will try Canawicks after a quick cleaning later this week along with the Eagle Valley's. Cubex maybe. I wonder if hardwood needs more air or less. I don't want to tamper with the settings yet.
Temp. and BTU-wise, I got the same differential with Cubex vs. LGs on the small stove here - seems like the 50F is dialed-in pretty well for roasting.
To smooth my Sunday stove purchasing sour deal I purchased 42 bags of Logik-ê and 1 Spruce Pointe to try. Will have the heating results when time permits.
Canawick's 151*F Logik-ê's 162*F Tomorrow morning will be Eagle Valley's & Spruce Pointe's. If time permits, Cubex's.
