Correct, the decomp is both more of a traditional style and coming straight up through the top cover as opposed to using the odd spring that's normally the case on the 070/090 saws. There is something else very special about that saw. It's what you could reasonably call a "big bore" 090. It's a fabled 10-cube. Here are some shots of the two-piece head.
I'm waiting for a early-mid 70's vintage darker red air filter cover that matches from a Seller in B.C.,Canada.Should see it early next week.
Nah its just a regular ol' 090......Had it about 2 weeks now. Stihl 090 on the way soon, collection getting closer now
Dadgummet! At a quick glance I thought the decomp was in the other location. Like I told Brad, I guess that's what I get for slyly perusing the forums while pretending to show interest while shopping with my wife. I've just got 10-cube fever I guess... So, what are your plans for the current a/f cover??
Not really sure yet. I do have another top cover/a/f cover set that's late 70'sish though.Has the newer aluminum badges
Gotcha. Well, not to turn this into a classifieds ad, but PM me if you're interested in selling any or all of your spares. I'm always on the lookout for 1106 series top covers and a/f covers. Frankly, I'm interested in about any 1106 series parts... P.S. Having drooled a little more over the pics of your 090 I've decided that my new excuse for the crazy comment thinking your saw was a 10-cube is the custom decomp button! I like it . . . and now I want one...
I will be running it tomorrow and will post a better pic. Its my Dolmar PS 6100 just got back from getting ported.
