Nice easy fast splitting rounds! A lot of them are a little bigger than I like but they're straight as can be so I'm happy! The stuff I pulled off this property last year was generally a little smaller but didn't split well at all.

    You got that right brother!
It is more important than you know having momma raise your boy! Well worth any sacrifice if you can do it!

Hate to see the Ash dying off but it's not going to waste. Is EAB killed Ash still suitable for saw logs?

Most of the good stuff they cut out last year was used for saw logs. A couple of these were marked but for whatever reason they didn't take them. Made for some nice cutting!

Indeed! It's the way both of us were raised and what we wanted to do. She was sick last weekend so I had to take over for a couple days..lol.. Wow she has a tough job!!!

Thanks man! Only thing is there is absolutely nothing flat about that area..lol.. there were a couple more logs behind those in the picture and it's an uphill hike to where that trailer is. There's more down in a flat field be we grabbed these first while the ground was frozen and dry!

Yes, because the EAB larvae only go just under the bark. There's no burrowing of that critter much deeper than that. Obviously "live edge" lumber is no bueno from EAB culled logs.

If you want to burn EAB ash, just burn it where you got it. Every mile you move it is a mile toward my place that the beetle doesn't need to cross on its own. As bad as it has been for our forests, it sure doesn't need any help moving.

    I agree.

I have one EAB culled ash at my wood lot. It's going to my buddy, where I'll trade him for other non ash wood. He lives right down the road about a half mile from my wood lot. He's got EAB culled trees at his neighbors house 2 lots away.

But I'll never take any ash home to my house which is 15 miles away from the wood lot. We don't have EAB here at my house, and we'll keep it that way.

I bet that new splitter will make short work of that Ash... If only we had a video of the splitting to see that thing in action...

Nice splitting set up. All it needs is a coffee machine or a beer keg. :D

That's the easiest way. Do you have a Google account? If so, Google owns YouTube. You could also post a video using Photobucket or similar site.

Ok I think it worked. This was the day I got it. The first piece is real straight then I grabbed a nasty one.
