For sure rabbit and probably jack. Like amateur cutter at first I thought perhaps it was a horse that threw a shoe.
I have never seen one around here. Maybe further north up around Jackson or Cody Wyoming, but I have never seen any up there either when hunting.
I did some ranch work in Utah in the early 70's, there were lots of Snowshoe rabbits there............I've only seen one here in the 32 years that I've lived in Nevada.....I'd thought for sure they were in Wyoming.
No rabbits around here for years. Used to see them hanging around all the time, but once the predators moved in, coyotes, fishers, bobcats to name a few, no more rabbits.
We have Fisher's here too, I never knew what they were until now....... I've seen them get into fights WOW! I thought they'd fight to their death.
No wolves here, I've seen a few red fox, black bears, lots of owls, tons of soaring hawks, and of coarse my favorite the Accipiters (stealth fighters) they're the bad azz hawks! Lots of golden eagles and the bald eagles are here for the calving season right now. The balds clean up all the cows after birth UM-UM GOOD!
Ya Got Me.... I was justa loligaggin around, walking all weird, cahones a' draggin..... Lost one a me shoes too.... Gives new meaning to the sayin, "Went to see a man about a horse..."
I did a search on the Wyoming Game and Fish web site and it looks like the snowshoe hare is found in most of the mountain ranges of Wyoming. I live out on the high plains far away from any mountain ranges so I would not see any around here. I did get curious though.
Those are rabbit tracks. The original photo shows tracks from all four feet of the rabbit together. Rabbits place their rear feet (the long ones on the outside) slightly in front of their smaller front feet.
