Whatever you want to show for work or play.

I just upgraded my tractor. The 1956 Ford sold and that money went to this 1990 Ford.

That is a nice looking tractor (both of them actually). I have been through my share of equipment, but one of my favorites (and the most handy) was my New Holland 1925 tractor with loader. It had turf tires, but was 4wd and getting around was never a problem. Took it in on trade, and used it to dig up the concrete on my back porch, and the foundation of the new patio. Sold it to pay for the house improvements (the porch and patio :) ). I will get another one of these days.

I here ya Carbine. I have been through my share of equipment as well. One nice thing about heavy equipment is, if you take good care of it, you can usually get all your money back out of it after you use it for a while. Or very close to it. I have bought several things over the years at the right price, worked it for a while, and then sold it and got all my money back.

My other current piece of equipment. This thing is a working BEAST!

Bobcat B300 with cab and heat. The cab and heat is nice when you are moving snow and it is 1 out.

    Now we're tallkin!

I used to hit farm/ equipment auctions, but you have to be real careful buying and my schedule typically interferes with them now. Some of my better deals have been rentals. Here is a NH LS160 I had a few years ago. I was in LOVE with this thing, it was a 2005. I replaced it with a 2006, and ended up getting rid of both.

Rental companies typically have a maintenance program and machines get a check-up when they come back from a rental.

Farm equipment can get neglected, especially if money was tight....

Absolutely, and sometimes why it ends up at the auction... something is wrong with it.

This is true. I looked at quite a few tractors. I was strongly considering an older model, because of price, but it had too many hours on it. A larger Cockshutt with a Fiat power plant, good, reliable engine and what a work horse, but just did not want to take the chance with that many hours. This one actually has more hours than I wanted, but at 3100 hours, I was happy. After I got more deals on the Cockshutt it had 11,000 hours on it. o_O Still going strong though.

Trying to find a tractor over 40 horsepower, diesel, 4 wheel drive, low hours, power steering, and trying to stay under 10,000 is a difficult thing to do. I could not find one around here that was not beat to hell. It took me a while, but I did it. Then had to pay to have it shipped to me. :( There are some things that will need some attention, but nothing serious. And I can do them as I want and have the time to do them. Right now it is successfully hauling wood through deep snow!

So skidding logs will be its primary use? Or do you have other plans for it?

I will try skidding logs. I also have a carry all box for hauling wood out that is bucked up. But I now own 81 acres of land and have a lot of plans for work I want to do. So it will pull a brush hog, a heavy duty York rake I have for leveling and cleaning up areas I have worked on and want finished off. I also have a brother-in-law who said I could borrow his three point hitch tiller. That would be real nice for the garden. We actually want to have two separate gardens this year. So lots of work lined up for the tractor!

I liked the old Ford but can't beat the capabilities of the 4wd newer model!

Do you have any pictures of the new Ford with your 3 pt wood hauling carry-all? With the snow we've gotten this year, i've had to move away from using our 2wd Gator to using my tractor for moving wood I'm splitting back to my stacking area. Twice as many trips with the tractor vs. Gator bed and I remember your thread when you built the carry-all. Might be what i need to do at some point.

81 acres is a nice patch of ground! We would like to do the same one of these days, and hopefully stay close by. Land is just getting out of sight here, but house values continue to decrease.

It is on the back of the tractor in this picture. Tough to see but this was the trial run. It did well. Deep snow. Ice layer underneath that worries ya about getting stuck with no chains on it. http://firewoodhoardersclub.com/forums/index.php?threads/snow-is-deep.2674/

Here is one ATV (my working quad).

The other ATV's are for play and are much faster. :)

We need a "things that go fast" thread. I don't have any anymore so I can't start one :(. But I still like looking at them :drool:
