    Howdy FHC peeps,

Received an email today from woodpellets.com, $17 off / ton through January 13th, 2017.

Call 1-800-735-5387 to Speak to an Expert!

    The fine print:

Sale ends 1/13/17. Order minimums and product availability vary by region.

    * Sale pricing not valid on pickup orders. Promotions cannot be combined.

    --
If you're ordering, hey, 17 bucks is 17 bucks.. That's free pellets and Beer money there.

FYI, their pickup pricing on LG Granules and CF Pacific @ Demars is actually lower this year vs. last from what I remember .. For any woodpellets.com pellet folks out there.

Little birdy told me no more Cleanfire DF's coming out of Upton anymore. I'm not sure what they are going to do once their inventory is exhausted.

It's a good point LW, but their delivery prices have always been like that, vs. local pickup.

    * I didn't see any additional price inflating or 'gouging' (specific for this sale) when I checked before posting the info. - I wouldn't have posted it up if I did, FWIW.

It's true the pellets are pricey, I've always attributed that to their business model (3rd-party processing & bagging -> transportation -> internet -> 3rd-party distribution site / delivery transportation) .. vs. a more local presence / delivery model. (I imagine there are a few more hands (& costs) involved selling pellets this way.)

I've only done local pickup @ Demers Garden Center in Manchester (delivery is not available here), the folks there have always been pleasant and helpful,
the folks I know in Keene that have had pellets delivered were also pleased w/ the ordering, delivery, and service, no issues.

I wasn't necessarily alluding to "gouging", merely mentioning the fact that if something was higher priced to begin with, a discount isn't necessarily a great deal. As you may or may not know, I don't really think gouging is possible with pellets, as there are so many alternatives these days, if one doesn't like a particular retailers' price, it doesnt take much work to find another retailer or brand.
A possible example of gouging might be the epi-pen, but I'm only going by what I hear on the news there......only one manufacturer, sets the price, and then the price increases by several thousand percent over a short amount of time.......

And yes, you're right, generally the more 3rd partying and handling and transportation will amount to a higher price.

Fully agree, choices are good - and I've learned a lot from all the Pellet peeps on FHC over the last year or so: including the value of finding good vendors, and keeping inventory on-hand.

I will say that back in winter '14-'15, while many local vendors were limiting product and/or not selling bagged retail, this company was providing consistent stock to the Keene area for purchase.. I've always appreciated that.

I respect that others may not find their pricing 'to their liking' - that's cool, just thought it important to note this particular company, does provide good product and service. Folks just may pay a little more for that, but again, choices are good - the more there are, the better it is for all of us here.

re: availability - it is a different landscape in this area this season vs. last, with Okanagan exiting the local market / vendors getting burned from excessive inventory last season: readily available / 'visible' retail choices in SW NH are less, than they used to be. They're still there, but you have to ask, and shop around.

re: Epi-Pen, can't comment what I really think about what they're doing, else risk being banned from the Forum. :zip:

Saw an article in the paper today that the local CVS is selling a generic equivalent for 1/6th the price of the Epi-pen.

Being marketed as "Adrenaclick". $110 for a 2 pack as compared to $600 for the ones from the price gouging outfit.

Hey CF - FWIW they have had a variety of sales going on for most of this heating season. Sometimes it's free delivery, sometimes $20 or $30 off per ton on various products. As suggested here already, so far none of their sales have been sufficient to beat what we would pay for the same (or similar) products locally, but like you said there are reasons for that.

Didn't know that TT - Thanks for the info.

My work / travels keep me local to SW NH / VT (the other side of the state) these days, so I haven't been checking their website as frequently. That's good info. to know - I'll pass it along to the neighbors & the folks in Keene, they'll appreciate that, Thanks again. :handshake:

CF - wp.com has switched to a different sale. DF for $50 off per ton, which brings the price down to $350.
