Two totes burned in the shop so far, moved another one in this morning. Very cold out with chance of 3-5 inches of snow,11 degrees feels like -4.
Stacked some firewood today until my fingers started to get numb.:stacke: 20°F outside and down to 5° tonight. 75° inside burning Pinyon pine. Looks like we're in for some flooding over the weekend.
Weather man calling for 4* tonight. I'm calling for about a hunnert lbs of hedge in the ol' wood stove.
Thanks Gasifier, I think I'll be fine folks that live near rivers might have some flooding....... Most of the time the weathermen never get it right.
Me too Dave , it seems I always wake up when it hits 63, like today 11 °F out now, burnin red and white oak with shagbark, 75 inside. Low tonight 6 °F
Wow! that's alot of rain hopefully it stays on their side of the mountains and it usually does. It's crazy here yesterday it rained all day now it's 20°F and by the weekend flooding!
Geez oh peeminey. Wifey just messaged. Some new friends moved up from Georgia to help a buddy in his mechanicing business. Seems their furnace took a poop and she wants to know if they can borrow my propane cabinet heater. I told her I'd take it over after work if they need. It's all of 11 farenheit here right now. Good lord. We're burning shoulder wood that I planned to have used up by December, and pellets downstairs. The Hastings isn't terribly hungry as long as you keep it throttled back. Hope the rest of you are well and warm.
All that wood people get on us about cutting......sure is nice have'n a wood fire going when poop happens.
"All that wood people get on us about cutting......sure is nice have'n a wood fire going when poop happens" Aaaaamen! One thing I learned growing up watching the space program. Redundancy! Redundancy! Did I mention Redundancy! ?
Meh. Who needs a scale when you can do math? Dry (20% MC) hedge weights 57 lbs a cubic foot. My stove firebox is 4.3 cubic feet. My hedge is probably closer to 15% MC so subtract the weight of 5% of a cubic foot of water making it 54 lbs. I can't pour hedge into the stove like I could water...But I can stack it pretty tightly...So let's say 75% utilization. .75x4.3x54 = 174.
Current temp 21°F going down to 13°F. The wind has us in the upper single digits. A little snow expected tonight. We have the pellet stove running and about to put a night load in the oakleaf.
