I'll Keep a eye or a thought out for some... but here is a decent buy, for a decent smoke. Free shipping & basically less than $4 a stick... Joe's Daily Cigar Deal: Free Shipping Every Day - Cigars International
Well, you may probably just end up with something that I like. Tastes are subjective, right? The first romeo I had was the best! I had ordered 5 of them, bought two more over the counter and have never duplicated the experience. Go figure. Same thing with these Graycliff G 2. These Mark Twain cigars are very mild and pretty consistent. Just a little too mild.
Another mild cigar but just a little stronger than the Mark Twain. Both Mark Twain and 5 Vegas are also available in maduro and benefit greatly form resting in the humidor for a couple-5-6 months! Again, the first one of these I had was great. the rest of them have been OK. I try to keep 'em on hand. Compare to romeo y julieta if you want to (but I don't think so.)
I get the impression those are of the stronger variety, that's nice that you get free shipping on the daily deal.
Here's one more for you to try. I had two of them from different shops (right over the counter) and they were very consistent and enjoyable. Arturo Fuente best seller short story. Its only about 4" long but lasts and smokes surprisingly well. About $8 around here.
They change daily, and sometimes throughout the day. But the one I had posted on was a mild one, it was a Nub... as yooperdave last posted the AF Short stories are very good and very consistent. But most AF's are that way...
The Hemingway Short Story is a great cigar made in the Dominican Republic. It is also available in a Maduro wrapper. Most cigars that are made in the Dominican Republic I find to be on the milder side, even though the AF Short Story is full flavored.
Bought those online for about $5.50 with the Maduro wrapper, they listed them as medium but I gave one to a friend (who smoked cigars) and he called them full. Will the lighter wrapper make them more noticeably mild. He liked them and so did I but would like one just a little milder and maybe a little bigger.
I do not like full cigars. I really like the short story. Whats going on here? I thought they were mediums! If they are indeed full, I need to start smoking more full flavored cigars then! They are great.
Yes. But I feel that maduro wrapped sticks benefit (again, for my tastes) with aging in the humidor. My humidor is an insulated cooler with wire shelving it it. I built two of them this way a couple years ago and they work great!
Tatuaje red label - beautiful mild/mild cigar Tat brown label - mild/med cigar with a little more pepper and nic. Tat tattoo - med/full with pepper and nic that will cause the sweats if you're not careful Those are all no questions asked solid cigars that can be had in the $3-4 range. Stop smoking crap fellas (no offense lol). Looking for a quality long fill that is quick and won't mind tossing at $2? tatuaje petite and petite reserva they are long filler cigarillos the reserva having more pepper and strength. Oldspark, PM me your address, I'm gonna have a little surprise sent to you. (I'm talking about a cigar you sick freaks...)
The AF Short Story is a square-right-in-the-middle medium cigar. It may have been full for your friend - everyone's taste and reaction to a cigar is different. The color of the wrapper is not indicative of its strength. A maduro wrapper is darker because it is well aged. It is also sweeter than a less aged wrapper.
Yep I hear what you are saying but he does smoke a lot more cigars then I do and has tried many different brands so I was willing to give him a little credit. My son in law smokes some cigars that smell great but are a little too strong for me. I was under the impression that the maduro wrapper did add a little to the strength of the cigar, I get that from some of the descriptions of the cigars but not very knowledgeable when it comes to cigars as you can tell.
Here you go oldspark, I just did a quick search and this page does a good job of describing the different types of wrapper leafs: Wrappers | The Cigarbox
Ok, I've found an even better reference. Perelman's Pocket Cyclopedia of Cigars is a good reference on cigar manufacturer's and their cigars. Turns out there is an online version of this book that I did not know about. The site is CigarCyclopedia.com Cyclopedia of Cigars. Once there click "Cigar Basics" which links to a PDF with a concise but complete description of cigar construction and wrapper color types.
