5 degrees out and 68 in the house.... Guess I should have checked the weather last night. I loaded the stove at 7 last night and 12 hours between reloads was a little to long in these temps. O well the fire is cracklin now and we are headed back to the mid 70's.
5° on the back porch this morning. Boiler was empty but still had some red coals and still up to decent temp at 170. Tank still at 175. Cleaned ash pan out and loader her up again. I'm going to have to bring some more wood in a little at a time today and tomorrow. The pile in the basement is getting low.
68º in the house this morning at 6, big red chunks in the back of the stove but just wasn't throwin quite enough heat. Pulled it forward and opened it up for an hour then loaded up with cherry and sugar maple....thermo's heading north now.
Up to 24°! Time to go outside and enjoy doing something out there. I think I will hook up the carry all I built to the Ford and see how it does.
Are you in a valley? With this snow cover on a clear night with no wind the valleys can be 10-15 degrees colder than higher spots. I got down to 12 the other night and my brother was at 2 and he's a mile and half down the road.
Thermometer on the back porch says 7 this morning. Another whole load of Ash gone through in 7 hours. I have the heat turned up in the garage a bit, doing some work in there last night and this morning.
Ugh. The thermometers disagree, but both say it's cold. One says it is 9°. The other says it is 1°. Either way, it's cold. Boiler munchin away on all White Ash this morning. I gave it a good cleaning yesterday. Later this week it will be time to clean the chimney from the boiler to the outside cleanout.
Oh man. That is where we were at a while back oldspark. I feel for ya man. Stay warm. How is the wood supply? What do you burn and burn in?
Plenty of wood cause I am on the BWS wood burning plan. PE Summit, using mostly Oak , Mulberry , and White Ash right now.
They're calling for -18 on Tuesday night with a realfeel of -13. We'll be burning Beech and some Sugar Maple. It looks like that winter storm will hug the coast or even go out to sea, time will tell.
I like the sounds of that storm going up the coast and missing us. How do they come up with a warmer real feel?
The Euro Model has it tracking inland more but Bernie thinks that will be wrong, the Euro has been real reliable this year. http://www.accuweather.com/en/weather-video/mid-atlantic-northeast-snowstorm/2430839568001
Backwoods Savage. He is the one that will educate you on how to get wood c/s/s for 3yrs.....and use a milkcrate to split your firewood with your future vertical/horizontal hydraulic splitter. He is a wise ole wood burner
