They placed 693 cats and kittens last year while being shut down for several months.

One of me previous cats developed diabetes. My vet had me feed him a prescription canned food that brought is blood sugur right down to normal in a few months. After that it was regular canned only for him. He explained that cats are carnivores and most adapt well to the extra carbs in kibble-some do not. I really miss that vet as he always had great instincts where most would have been treating the cat with insulin. Unfortunately the vet retired about 4-5 years ago

I suppose I should say why they were closed, well they rescue cats from down south and hi kill shelters and they got hit with a nasty fungal infection that got past their isolation process. Ringworm is a tough thing to get rid of in a shelter like HART where the cats basically have free range. It took months and a lot of money to clean up the mess.

I don't remember what rope/twine I used. But it is standing up to 7 of them and the beat the chit out of it each a couple times a day. I also put some nip on it and they never claw the couch or chairs since..........

Pretty sure I have said it before...but if a cat is clawing at something they shouldnt, cover that area with tin foil for a week or so-they hate that feeling and will move on. Having multiple scratching posts is key

You sign an adoption contract with HART requiring you to keep the kitty in your house and not let loose outside.

I know they are trying to be helpful and dangerous things are in our neck of the woods, and some people are just not smart about things, but.......:zip:
