We usually get two weeks or more of the -10 to -30, once Albany starting taxing the cold.......the cold left NYS.
Too Much! Close to a cord and it hasn't been real cold. I brought about 2 cords up to the house and figured it would get me through the season with the increased efficiency of the new stove. Wrong. I will have to bring up another cord that I intended for next year. The wife would freeze to death in h!!l and she retired this year, so the stove is going all the time.
you'll get the cold, and I'm eager to see how that oak goes for you. Is this the stuff you got from a neighbor years ago helping them out?
Sort of, it's from a lady who worked at a bank in Massena. The people who took down the big Oak never came back for the smaller stuff so we got it, a face cord of White & Red Oak. When I was in the bank making a deposit for our business, she was telling the person in front of me about the wood, my first scrounge.
I think i'm about 1.5 cords, but I started early and have burned very little HHO. And with the hybrid, the house is staying warmer and have less reloads. A lot of my wood is poplar this year.
About 5/6 of a cord. Most of it is pine and tree of heaven this year, so low BTU stuff. Only burned a cord last year, but it was gum so more BTUs/volume. Wishing I had burned just a little bit less today: it is 82 in the house.
About 2 cord of box alder, sycamore, some soft maple, just getting into the hard maple, red oak, beech.
About a cord and a half of red oak so far. We've had snow on the ground for over a month now and a few pretty cold nights before Christmas, that really eats it up. Of course as I get older I like it warmer inside.
A little under a cord, most of that was Cottonwood and Boxelder, burned a little ash and a smidgen of Oak and Hickory. Burned a little of chunks, uglies n pieces, I need to burn more of that stuff and get rid of it, so I have room for the new chunks and uglies
I would guess about 2 cord, maybe slightly more. Pine, douglas fir, and aspen. That means there is about 5 cord left for this winter, of the same species.
I'm guessing that I burnt about 2-3 cord with the OWB, but the ashes don't line up with that. I emptied ashes from the OWB a couple days back and only had two snow scoops worth of ash. Seems to me there would be a lot more ash from 3 cord.... Anyhoo, thats for heat of a two story with full basement and all the hot water you can use!
Just approaching 1/2 cord so far. Didn't need the stove at all until late November, and then I was gone for 10 days in December during that 1st "deep freeze"!! The Mulberry I'm burning now is fantastic....................nice longish burn times............even in my tiny 13NC!!!
Been burning as needed since 2nd week September. 1.75 cord so far. A mix of black walnut, red maple, pine, and willow. Wood is my primary source of heat Natural Gas boiler (baseboard hot water heat) has only been run twice , about 12 hours total - to make sure it works. Gpsfool
Bout a cord n a half I'd guess. Started early as it's my rookie season burnin Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
1.5 cord of pine, popple, cherry, & "something else" light I scrounged from somewhere I don't remember. 1/2 cord ~ of the better/medium stuff. Cherry & Elm mix mostly. Heat 24/7 with wood. 2400 sq' of shop & house. New windows & doors in Oct. 2 years ago I'd burnt 4 cord by now. I'm sitting on 15 cord of ash, oak, & elm split & seasoned for 2 yrs. I'm really loving not burning like mad to stay warm. Weather has been a bit colder than avg for Dec. Slightly warmer in Nov. Things are looking pretty good here.
