Our decorations go up about a week before Christmas, so the take down is sometime in Jan. Even longer for some things like candles in the window, wreath on the door. Where we are no one but us sees them anyway.

Well just planed 350 board feet of rough cut cedar.. having last cup of coffee now.. working on finishing new closet for the wife ... it was started 10 months ago:whistle: but life happens got busy planting gardens.. replacing septic.. replacing french doors in office..oh and cut split and stacking 16 cord:dex:.. but running rough cut thru a planer while using a cane that's   (waiting on knée surgery) ... but I take week after christmas off to play with kids.. and mine went to my sisters for 3 days so had to do something...

Now I could have bought the cedar planed and ready for 600 or rough cut and use my planer for 100.. but the closet is 20 feet long 2 feet deep and 60 inches high.. I am not going to sheet rock and mud and tape that! so good thing a closet should be cedar anyways!

I measured the center of the electrical poles to the tee they want to take Durban. 39 feet. The guy I spoke to said it was 40 get from the center on what they need to trim or cut. The paperwork we received said it would be 15 ft. So there's that.

The good news is that the ancillary overhead wires to service our house and neighbors will be run underground. That will be good.

Are you sure it doesn't say 15' within their right-of-way? It was hard to see the google maps image you posted of the HV lines but an 80' ROW is typical

Not sure how it works elsewhere, but in Maine the PU won't touch underground lines. My power line is underground from the PU owned pole in the private ROW that is my subdivision road. They decided they needed a new taller pole because the phone line where it crosses the private road is too low. In order to raise the phone line, all the wires must be raised. The new pole was put in and my underground won't reach. It is completely my responsibility $$$, to get my line to the new taller pole. I am the only house serviced from that pole and I don't even use the phone line!:headbang:

This is all paid for by the power company. The cable line will be run underground too, even though we don't currently use cable, although that might change as I plan on going to a streaming TV service, probably Playstation Vue, as our DSL is well below what we need for streaming.

We need to mark any cables or wires for our septic system, or any wires/ piping that are not the electric company's, city sewer etc. So I'll need to mark our power line that runs to the septic system.

The bigger higher wires will be still overhead, but there will be less wires overhead with the ancillary lines running underground.

Here's from the center of the main poles to the tree in question. The tape measure is 12' max. But I went 11ft three times, and another 6ft from that. IMG_20161231_154713362.jpg

No, the WE energy letter said 15' from each line. Using the closest wire to our land, the tree in question is well beyond 15'. It's more like 20'. However WE energies and ATC are not on the same page with distances they need from trees. ATC owns the bigger towers and lines, WE energies owns the ancillary lines. Since these two companies are not on the same page, that's the issue.

Our property line is well beyond the reach of the "offending" tree. Our property line goes about 15, maybe 20 ft from the mulched area that the spruce trees in, before it hits the ROW.

How about a complaint to the PUC, or you and your neighbor hire a lawyer. post your property, put up a fence, put a bull in the fenced in area.

All it would take is one of the rich people affected by the tree trimming and cutting and they'd hire a lawyer. With 1 tree affected I don't feel that my situation requires lawyers making money off of me.

Would a lawyer, or the bull create more poop?

I'm getting ready to finish 2016 with another load of Cherry.

Happy New Year / Have a safe & healthy one.

My first job for 2017 will be to take the dry sand out of the basement (150 pounds) dump in the sand garbage can and then get another 200 pounds back in the basement.

With the rain coming in, our driveway will be all ice when it freezes so we'll need the sand.
