I posted a pic on the stove Tetris thread of my Sierra full of square wood and thought I'd show what I'm burning.
There is a fab shop down the street from work that allows me to cut up their skids they get rid of. It's a win win cause they don't pay to ship out and I have an easy way to cut wood. IMG_20161230_162454607.jpg IMG_20161230_162450753_HDR.jpg

I don't think it'll be long before you get shut down using the saw on their property.....

Get as much as you can now!

Lol. I got shut down at another place down the street 3 or 4 years ago. Guy who ran the dock didn't care but dude in the office that spotted me freaked out. That's when I found this place and they don't care. I'm the only one allowed to take wood too. 3 years running now and all is good. A box of Donuts dropped off to shop foreman once in a while helps too.

Eventually the pencil necks that afflict our society like a cancer will put an end to it.
    I second Yooper's advice unfortunately

Offer to provide a liability document, or have on me handy. Nice looking wood. Minimal nails. Are those skids/pallets oak?

Looks like there's enough to build a woodshed to put it in.

Guess if worse case scenario, pick up skids and haul them home or somewhere you can cut them. Looks like some good wood.

Most are oak. I see some poplar and a little pine.only prob is fresh skids are green and they need to sit out and weather a year. I've been able to rotate where I cut to keep room for the new ones to sit.

That's what I did at the last factory that wouldn't let me it there but it's a pain.

Maybe some of those skids are hardwoods? But regardless, good place to hang out and load up, and skids are usually pretty seasoned

Ya, I'm sure. Pretty big to load, especially if by yourself. How long are those? If oak or some other hardwood I'd bet they're heavy. Worth it though for sure

Ah, so there are no bannisters actually missing the posts.;)

Yeah, keep doing that as long as you can. Eventually the bean counters will put a stop to it.

Cool, you got a depth mark on the bar to make sure you stay out of the dirt, looks kinda close, I'd likely be hitting the dirt a bunch.

I get access to a few of them in the uk. I've been using them to make stuff while my brother just burns the lot .
Question is and it may be a daft one do the nails not cause any hot spots or cause damage to the stove ?

The nails don't bother burning at all, just ash cleanup, they determine all woven together I the ashes and scooping them is a pain.I don't use the ashes for anything so it doesn't matter there either.

Thanks . I've a endless supply of pallets and use them in garden fire pit but I made that from stainless.
Long as I can get free logs and dry them I'll burn that first. Good to know though
