I took a couple of walks through my yard recently and I noticed a tone of mole tunnels and about a half dozen mole hills. Some of the tunnels are also in my gardens!

I can pretty much take care of any vermin above ground or come above ground, but I am at a loss for those below ground, especially Voles and Moles. I don't just want to chase them away. I want to kill them all! Since I am bordering a wooded area on 3 sides, I figure I will also venture in to make sure any voles or moles are eradicated there as well.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

I'd try a dozen hungry weasels.

A badger would eat them also.

To get rid of moles you need to kill their food. Kill the grubs. You can use grub killer come summertime or try nematodes.

I use a combo of spring loaded traps I got from amazon and these baits:

Amazon.com : Talprid Moles Bait 1/2 Box(10 Worms Shaped Baits) : Home Pest Lures : Patio, Lawn & Garden

These are the same baits the pros use around here and charge 40 bucks to put 2 out!

    Directions:
Roll or walk all the tunnels back flat. Wait to see new tunneling action. Bait and trap that tunnel. Mark bait with lawn flag or stick. Check to see if bait gets eaten daily.
I always put out 3 in different spots.

There's also a granular product but it doesn't kill. It just pushes them into the neighbors yard. When it needs reapplied, they will be right back in your yard and it costs more $. Crappy cycle imo.

Of course, there's always the lawn chair, 12 pack, and a pitchfork method:
    Roll lawn flat.
    Sit in chair
    Open beer and start drinking.
When you see ground moving, jump up and start stabbing the ground with pitchfork while yelling your favorite redneck comment.

Ps: the last method requires video :)

They attacked my yard wicked bad, I set mouse traps with the fake cheese on it, I put the traps on their runs and put a bucket over it to block the light...They walk on the trap by accident and snap...I caught 50 of them and reclaimed my lawn...Treating your lawn with grub x will help keep them away...

The pitchfork method sounds good too.

My neighbor sits in his yard with a glass of iced tea and an 870 loaded with #4. He has the biggest yard and fewest moles in the neighborhood.

Get a Rodenator, there great fun and made in the US. A good mate of mine is the Australian distributor, this is a link to there Facebook page. https://m.facebook.com/rodenator.au/
And a Video of some good Aussie yocals using the Rodenator. .
The Rodenator fills the burrows with propane and oxygen then ignites. It kills humanly and destroys the burrows.

Did I mention it was fun!
    It's a blast!

We have lots. For voles we use mouse traps. For moles I've never had good results with the traps but not sure why as others have good results. Wife did take to putting about a half stick of juicy fruit gum in the tunnels and it works.

One of ours would go out almost daily and bring back a dead Vole, Mole, or mouse. We re-homed her a few years ago.
Wish we still had her though. She was a killah.

We still have one....he's almost 13 now, and spends a good deal of his time napping.
He likes to think he can catch squirrels and chippies.

There is some effective things I call my "cyanide sticks". All it is are glorified smoke bombs that release smoke and no cyanide but carbon monoxide. They are about the size of a roll of dimes and have a fuse. Place by tunnels and light and step back and watch. The smoke and fumes are heavier than air and flows down into the tunnels and gasses them. When the tunnels get full you will see every exit hole in the lawn start puffing. I killed off a pack of rats that were tunneled under grain bins with them and got a total kill in one shot.

We have a mole problem too. Our dog has been with us just shy of a year and he has been pretty good at killing them.
This summer I will try to kill the grubs. I want to have some moles away from the house so the dog has something to do.

Supposedly, moles eat grubs and worms and voles eat roots.
I had voles pretty bad for two years with my hostas being one of their favorite snacks.
I started raking the leaves back near those plants exposing their tunnels and the mean old cat next door found them to be great entertainment. All my hostas are doing well again, but my neighbors just moved.
