The value of a garage cannot be understated in the winter. I don't understand seeing people with a garage full of crap and their cars parked in front of it. My garage might be full of my treasures, but I have enough clearance to get my cars in and close the doors, by about 1/2 inch.

Can't get the car into the garage until I demo the driveway and put in a new one. Not unless I want to rip off the oil pan.

I agree with the first part of your post. I love my shop/garage that's attached to the house. It's heated, and I can step out into it to turn that heat up in the morning, and have it perfect in about an hour. Usually about 60 for working is great. Snow on the vehicles outside is no sweat. Having the Suzuki and JD tractor in a 50 degree garage is priceless. The hydraulics on the tractor take a long time to get going in cold weather, so I've really enjoyed storing it in a heated area. Of course, most of my other gear lives in there too. Only piece of gear outside all the time is my utility trailer with a small "firewood crane" mounted on it.

Cooking grits on the King again. Going to try the honey and butter recipe someone suggested.

Went out to the front porch where we stove the soda, found three cans exploded. Well, two and the lid of a third. Diet cherry Pepsi really gets some good distance, found the rest of the can about six feet away. Temp must have really dropped last night, everything was liquid when I went to bed.

After a week of below 0 C (32 F) temps and brilliant sunshine, we now have wind, rain and snow coming down forming ice on the frozen ground. After a day or two of this, we will be back into our rain and wind weather for this time of year.

Only thing worse is expecting either nothing or a "dusting" and hearing the plow go by at 4:30AM

When my garage started filling up 15 years ago is when I did the shed. I refuse to not have enough room for the vehicles due to storage.

I hear that. If you can't put your vehicles in your garage in the winter you have too much s_it.

You get better. Daughter is having a coughing attack as I type. She has been to bed since 7:30 and still not sleeping from cough. Poor kid. They recoup quick at that age though!

Kid could not sleep most of night from nasty cough. Sounds like croup. Took the morning off to take her to doctor. May not be much they will do about it, but I will let them decide. I hope this does not become one of those weeks.

Chicken noodle soup for sure. Best thing going. That and fluids like water and real fruit juice. Turns out I had to take the whole day off. Wife could not even get time off for the afternoon. No substitute teachers left! Can you believe it. They called her back to tell her there are no subs left. What if she was the one who was really sick? What would they do then? Ridiculous.
