    hi
Just had my stove installed and absolutely love the heat it puts out. However, right before the pellets feed, I hear a vibration humming sound. When no pellets are being dropped, it's fine. It happens right before the pellets drop. Thoughts?

For $4K should it be making that kind of noise?

Pellethound is right. It's the auger motor. They are a bit loud.

well, it depends on the noise. Some folks feel there should be NO noise, and the normal hum of a feed motor is tantamount to a locomotive running through their living room. There can be faulty feed motors on a new unit, although fairly rare, it happens. Could also be a fan shield loose, or a loose part somewhere else. Probably not the slide plate. One would have to hear it under normal operation.

Hi. It's like a vibration. you could almost feel the rumble on the floor next to the stove. Not super loud but noticeable.

"Hi. It's like a vibration. you could almost feel the rumble on the floor next to the stove. Not super loud but noticeable."

Dunno if this helps, when we first installed the Francesca, we had the same issue, vibration noise on auger feed..

Noise was being transmitted from the stove -> onto the hearth. Adjusting the stove's leveling legs / putting more pressure on them, & re-leveling the stove took care of it.

If it's really bugging you, I'd give the dealer a call. Or +1 on taking a video & posting it up.

I agree with Cleanfire above, and even posting a video might not help.....call the dealer.

Be prepared for a "that's normal" response from a dealer. To be sure, if your dealer runs this model in their store, stop by and have a listen. When I had a high-pitched harmonic sound coming from one of the distro blowers, I had to make a few requests and finally stopped by the dealer and they agreed to come out. Soon as the technician heard the noise, he replaced the fan under warranty and the "normal" noise disappeared.

I dunno.....if the tech gets out there, it seems noisy, there's no reason not to change it...he's there, probably should have the part with him, and it just takes a couple minutes to change, all under warranty....isn't that easier than arguing?

It certainly is, but in my case, had to convince them to come out. They're a good dealer overall but sometimes the "they all do that" response is not appreciated.

I assume that is the one over in Jaffrey? I bought the P61a from the and they installed. Decided they weren't the dealer for me after they talked me out of 2 smaller stoves claiming the P61a in the basement would be all I need (I specifically told them I was thinking two smaller stoves would be better - my bad for letting them talk me out of it). They installed it without the OAK, even though Harman strongly recommends using an OAK for every install (and they never asked me).

But, just because I was a bit less than happy with my experience, doesn't mean you can't be happy with them

I know the owner..a good guy. Unfortunately, the owner doesn't sell all the stoves, or install them all. Larry has probably forgotten more about Harman than most Harman employees actually know.

I agree. If he's already there, changing it out will determine one way or the other if that's the cause.
