Gale force winds here today..................gotta keep an keen eye on the stove after reloading or else she's going nuclear. Burning good and putting out good heat.
Lit off the kicker stove in the basement this afternoon and played some cards with 99 next to it. You should have seen the stove reacting to the wind gusts and all!
I was at my new house this evening checking things out, and holy moly was my chimney w/through wall sucking!! It was/is on the leward peek of the house. Peak runs NS, wind out of the West, chimney below the peak out near the eave on the East side of the house. This set up for a mega vacuum effect. Think I'm going to be glad I decided to go with a damper for those just in case moments.
I should have noted that I did have a draft damper (key damper) which I installed in the pipe some time ago. Can't imagine what it would have been like without it!
Guess ours did okay. This morning my wife asked how I was able to sleep through all that wind last night. It was blowing hard when I went to bed, which was early. I was laying on a heating pad and reading. Of course, this put me to sleep and I didn't even here her come to bed. She said she soon got up as she could not sleep. Was afraid a tree might come through the roof. Of course, with her being up that prevented this from happening...
