We're still at 16 so I decided the pellet stove would throw the heat tonight, it's set on auto with a temp of 77 which will have it real toasty in here tomorrow morning.

It's like 35° out, I've had beech and elm in the quadrafire. Most of the day I've been in gym shorts and a t shirt., Or sometimes just the shorts.

It's Christmas, I'm running the stove.

Hard to like that yooperdave, high winds are a pain in the azz at a minimum and destructive at the worst. Not to mention it strips the house of heat. We are -20c/-4f and Im burning some apple coals down and then the night time load of larch. Its Christmas so Tundra gets to sleep in the house tonight.

wowzer Bert thats warm, it must feel real nice in your home right now. Upstairs we are 23c/73f but im 5 feet from the stove downstairs wearing shorts. I dont know what the temp is but its toasty! The stove is all loaded with larch and birch and on its way to a cruising temperature shortly of 650f. Merry Christmas to you!

It is about 6 or 7 degrees here this morning. Ash is heating the boiler up, and the Ash/Elm mix did well last night. Going to be warming up to 39ish this afternoon and we are going to get a mix of precipitation, but nothing too nasty.

35* and was woke up by some very noisy clouds. With the amount of snow in the woods if the rain don't knock it down the critters are in for a hard time. I just went out and loaded the boiler with whatever was handy, I do not want to be outside anymore than necessary this morning.

Woke up here to about - 1°F

Popped on the pellet stove for a quick blast of heat while the woodstove got up to temp. 64°F inside

Under a winter storm watch, nothing significant. Thursday bigger storm possible. :)

Its above freezing on the thermometer, but with the gusts to 40 mph feels way colder than what it shows!
At least it s wind from the south (banana belt) so it should be a bit mild temp wise.

wildwest I really don't know how the world you guys deal with the amount of wind you get out there!!!

6c in Leeds uk red hot inside wi Nellie burning cherry all day.
Let her just turn to glowing embers while house temp dropped.
Opened door to put another log on , at that exact point a gust a wind blew down chimney giving me a big cloud a smoke.
Think I'd better keep a good fire going and open a window.
    Is this a normal problem?

I don't know for how long it was, but with the freezing rain and the winds last night, at some point we lost power. It came back on; the reason I know is that the digital clocks are a blinkin this morning....or my vision is not yet adjusted to open lids condition!

Yeah, 99 predicted this happening at bedtime...

It's 35 out at the moment so we're still getting heat off the coals from this mornings fire.

    It's 72 up here.
