After reading a post in another thread I thought it would be interesting to see how hot we could get our air temps.

For comparison, and to be as consistent as possible I was thinking we state the cfm of the blower, lbs/hr on high, let it run on high for 1 hour before taking readings, and taking a left, middle, and center reading by either thermocouple or IR. And maybe pellet type. Any other suggestions? I will try to get my results within couple of days.

    IR left 430 center 610 Right 450.

No idea on CFM, comparable to the rest I guess.

No fancy temperature measuring equipment here. All I know is mine runs hot enough to keep the house warm on a cold azz day.

That being said, I'll be interested to see what the various results are.

Yes, IR will only give surface temps...but it is for comparison to others that measure with IR so its still good info.

Sooooo.....I didn't have batteries for my IR so I only used the thermocouple. I only had it ob high for 30 min because I started to see some black smoke coming from my vent.....and got a bit nervous :) In hind site I probably should have opened my damper, it almost closed for normal operation.

    Results:

    Left-377
    Center-371
    Right-353
