Now that is pretty cool right there! If I can think of something useful to fabricate maybe I'll jump in next year.

Here is a few pictures of my cool gift. After I took these pics, I discovered a day later that there was another layer of pears under the straw. The bad part, my wife instantly called dibs on the cool wooden box. What the .....I didn't argue, she has it. I have no idea who my SS is????????? DSCN1420.JPG DSCN1421.JPG DSCN1422.JPG

I was given a really cool hand painted FHC sign with our last name painted on it. Goes perfectly with the look of my man cave. I love that so many home made and hand made gifts are given in the exchange. Also there was a pocket knife in there that I'm pretty sure I could shave with. Nice sturdy blade and very sharp.

    Thanks SS!!

Have you tried locking the knife in the "skinning" position? Like a ulu?

I received an excellent gift from Well Seasoned . I now have the Kindling Cracker!

This is right up my alley, being cast iron and sharp (ask my wife how she knows).

It has a great industrial look to it and it is well made. During the week I had an idea to make a wooden dogs head mallet to go along with it. I turned the head out of locust, the handle is sugar maple and I forged an iron band for it.

I've tried tried splitting oak, maple, white cedar and ash. I am very impressed how safe it is. Set the split on it, one tap to set the bit and a few whacks and it is through. The smaller the pieces get, the easier it is to split. This will be great for the pizza oven as well since it really like smaller splits. I will probably use it to pare down splits for tool handles.

I'll make a proper base for it, and it will have a place in the tool line-up in the shop. Merry Christmas everyone! Thanks again Brian.

How did you know it was me? I had it shipped as a gift and was supposed to be hush hush! Anyway, my thinking was, your fingers are too important to be using that hatchet! I also figured you would make a cool base for it (iron and wood) but not that sledge - that's awesome!

Glad you like it and Merry Christmas! :)

Ahhhhh that's what that button is, I was curious about that. Didn't know what that button was. Maybe I should have read the packaging.

And I really needed a good pocket knife!

Fantastic gifts I see. I didn't wait. Opened my gift a few weeks ago, the day it arrived. I posted pics in the sign up thread - a new loop for my saw, bar nose greaser, and a book on tree felling.

I think my SS is Ralphie Boy. Never been to Kentucky, is it really like how they portray it on the TV series Justified?

Anyways - thanks again, Merry Christmas to all.

    The fool.

I've seen those on the Northern Tools web site. Looks like a good tool to have. Very generous of you secret Santa.
