my dealer came to my house and after checking the sq footage and location of our stove, told us a P43 [should do it.
when I hear the words 'Should do it" with anything, I automatically start thinking Upgrade to next level..
We have stairs across from the stove to 2nd floor bedrooms and I wanted to send heat up to them.
so, went to the P61A.. with a ceiling fan at top of the steps running on lowest speed and clockwise,
we get around 66 degrees upstairs which is perfect sleeping environment..
we could have it warmer than that but would melt the walls downstairs...
Never ran the unit full throttle even in the coldest times..
    Glad we went bigger...

Why are you glad you went bigger when you have never ran it full throttle?

Yes it is a lot of money, but once you stop seeing the dollar signs, you will begin to see the over all advantages of getting the right stove. With a Harman, you get HEAT and easy cleaning, also, it isn't fussy about what you feed it. Sure there are other stoves, but with a Harman you get what you set out to get.

well, didn't know when I bought it 4 yrs ago that I may not have burn full throttle..
that said, The p43 That the dealer suggested would prob have had to run full to heat the upstairs..
full would be highest heat setting and Fan speed...nice to know the 61 can be set higher if needed..
A pellet stove running full out all the time is ok I guess...

Burn 24/7 so neighborhood of 2 bag to 2/half in the teens and overnight nutso temps..
get tons of Sun on our place when it's out so stove is off or maint burn often..
that would be 1 bag or less days..

My point being that p43 would have been sized right. That thing maxed out would be 3 bags a day. So you need only 65-80% of that stove on the coldest nights.
It's comforting to know you have the extra horses, trust me I know, I have 70k at my disposal. But I never come close to using them.

That's where I am with the CB1200 when it dips below 20 full throttle 3/4 feed gate with LaCretes or DF and a little help from the hallway baseboard . That's why I think the P61A will give me the extra BTUs and run at a med clip without wasn't fuel .

How many bags is that? My concern for you @Russel is once you get that p61, you are gonna need to feed that thing 4bags a day plus to get the results you want at those temps. As is, that CB should eat 3.5 or so full throttle.

when it's bitter cold and windy here, I am set at 75 temp/feed rate 4 and fan speed at half..never had the fan speed higher..
I like heat but not as much as others do.

We feel comfortable at 73 upstairs which means downstairs is 75 - 76 on the cold days , right now it's rolling on low with my swing keeping it in always on mode .:MM:

Hmmm, maxed out that should be close to 3.5 no?? 51600btu/8500=6lbs per hour.
6lbs per hour is a healthy amount of pellets.
