bought a moisture meter last night from Lowes
Cut and split today average measures 19% towards the outside and about 22 towards the center
except for the larger rounds from the base of the tree and they are 19% towards the outside and as high as 27 at the center ( especially the 20 inch or so diameter trees )

First Stuff I cut and stacked in November is 15/16% towards the outside ( split a split open and measured inside) and 22-22.7 towards the center of the split.

I burned a lighter/smaller split from November CSS a couple days ago and it didn't sizzle.

    Keep it coming
Sure does make some great looking stacks.
A serious pile of BTUs there

    Being that dry already,
you'll have good burning firewood in a lot less time than normal for red oak :)

another hour or two until the snow starts
I did get tarps thrown over them so they don't all get frozen together.
    Maybe.

    What, no stacking?:D
If I cut and split a cord of oak today I would either be sleeping, or drunk, or both right now.

    Tarp it.
That'll help motivate you to go out & work on it if it's not all snow covered & frozen together.
I did a pile , left it get snowed over & iced in, What a pain to break it apart & find it all.
Rain then snow then it turned cold.
    Pre wood shed pic.

I thought about it, but I had to split a wheelbarrow full of pine splits small for AM getting going and my sister and mom/s wood bins were both empty.
My boots are off and I'm making some nice hot spaghetti.
    Beat.

Great score Bill! You could burn much of that oak now if you had to.. In one year it should be good to go..

I'm hoping to do 2 cords every weekend for the next 6 weekends.
At least one anyway. Weather permitting.
I'm thinking about getting a spare saw.

Got to play with a 660 with a 28 inch bar today.
Makes my 026 PRO seem like a little toy.
Takes a little longer to touch up the chain though. :)

361 with a 20 b&c would be nice on some of the bigger pines I haven't gotten to that blew down a year ago
Brother has one and I've cut with him, helped fill his trailer and it's a nice weight/balance for me, size trees I have here. ( only thing big is pines and a couple oaks )
shoulda snagged the one that was for sale here in Nov.
my 026 is at least 15 years old - new carb a year ago.

Looking good! Age of a saw isn't as important of the care the saw has received. There a are a lot of great older models saws still chewing up wood.

    I've looked hard at the 362, 20"
    562xp , 20" on the list too.

My sawis still working well for me, but always kicking the tires on the new stuff :)

026 has been fine for the trees I work with most of the time, big stuff becomes a little bit of a project.
A little more hp and a longer bar with some speed pulling the chain around it would be nice for the bigger stuff time-wise.
Needing 5 to 9 cords for three houses is another whole ball game from needing 1/1.5 for my own.
If project scale justifies the right tools for the job, I really should have a back-up saw and something a little bigger makes more sense now.

    Yea
A 60 cc size, new one lots lighter & more power would fit your needs just right.
    I went 60 cc, a 20' , 359 husqy , 4 years ago,
Does a great job. Start easy. Pulls the full chisel RS or LGX just fine.

A new toy now & then is our reward for the hard work we put into the firewood process. :)
