Kevin in Ohio how come these good smart officers never make the news... not only did offenders learn something.. they might smarten up...
He's old school. He told me about the time he had a guy in the back of his car and the guy said he wouldn't be so tough if he didn't have that badge and gun on. Said he instantly grabbed his badge and took it off. Took his belt and holster and threw it in the front seat and shut the door. Opened the back door and said, "Lets take a walk." Guy immediately said to take him to the police station. He's been in it long enough to know what is up and who's blowing smoke.
A couple of farmers I used to work for didn't believe in calling the police. I don't think they'd put somebody in the ground for stealing...But the thief would surely have gotten the beating of a lifetime and the "the next time I see you here will be the last time anyone sees you anywhere" talk.
City thieves take it for granted that "Oh, they have insurance and they'll get it replaced." When you spend 20 hrs a day working and someone takes the profits of your hands, it gets personal as I said. I worked on a family farm operation for about 12 years and I know. You mess with their property or kids and you are in for it.
Drill a 22 cal. hole in some more of those 2x2 and shove in some 22 shorts, unless you think a bigger bang is needed
Did I mention how much I hate firewood thieves.... Thats a family's heat source its no different than stealing there propane or fuel oil.
Yup agree. I had a huge amount stolen a few years back and I was borderline bazerk that really.... Ya anyways.
How much is a huge amount? I'm setting up to produce firewood on a large scale and until now I wasn't to concerned about theft of the actual wood because of how much effort it would take to haul out any amount of wood that had real monetary value. Obviously the work going into it is another story, but even if they had 3 guys and a 14ft dump trailer it would take 3-4 hours to load 3 cords. Maybe I have to much faith in people but seems like a lot of effort for not a very valuable product.
3 or 4 hours to load 3 cord of splits with 3 guys?! Is the wood hard to get to? Me and 2 buddies could crank a lot of wood into a dump trailer a lot faster! Cheers!
I had pretty much all my split wood stolen in a day... I came home and close 6 split cord where gone ( FULL CORD!) There was a rash of thefts and it took them a few years to find the culprits which they did. They had two stolen splitters from TSC that where like mint never used and a huge stash of split firewood. I don't know all the details other than they where convicted and sent off to jail. I never did get my firewood back and to my knowledge the county confiscated it all and disposed of it. We had a lot more wood but it was all green unsplit piles in the woods. It's part of why Backwoods Savage amateur cutter and a few others have my eternal respect.... They offered to help us out and we traded some wood wet for dry to get through that winter. I also helped split wood for some one to repay the help. I do not like taking without giving back! When I say one day I mean one day poof gone....
I am only liking part of story where your FHC brothers helped you out! never heard story Pete.. touching!
There where some VERY touching and generous offers that I did not want to take and turned away. My post was venting but it opened my eyes to how good the members here are! That's for sure...I was not after charity just a vent but sometimes sucking it up is the right thing to do...
