I don't have any pictures yet but the wife said there is a Hemlock down across one of her walking trails. I'll get a few saws ready tomorrow morning and hopefully get it tomorrow or the next day. I take some pictures when I do it.
Sometimes when I would get something like that, or worse, that resulted in a good bit of labor, I would laugh when I told my wife later what I said to my tractor when I went out to the garage to get her! After doing some physical work , and ready for a rest, I would slide up the overhead door and say this to her.....
The Hemlock looks rotten so I just cleared the part across the trail, the part that's wedged in the Yellow Birch and on the sidehill are still there. I did bring back six small rounds of Yellow Birch.
They are usually pretty soft by the time they fall, unless they blow over and unroot. I've burned hemlock this year. Its better than poplar!
No, I think the last stuff I milled was some pine, can't remember how long ago.....maybe two years back. That project has turned into a pole barn type structure scheduled for next spring. I have some nice size pine that will need to be dropped. We still want the cabin but we need a storage building that has two maybe three bays.
