I havc the P68, cleaning is next to nothing. I sware that other than dupping the ash box, it would take care of itself. But about every three weeks I open it up and vac it out, and wash off the glass. That's about all there is to except for the vent which I now only do a couple times a year and wonder why I do it that often. My P68 is just a black box to look at, oh but what a heater it is. Also, it burns any pellet you dump in it. This is one hot stove.

I wouldn't worry too much about the 50k vs. 60k BTU. In real life, you will never run either stove at full blast anyway, so don't let it sway your decision. In either case, you will have a more difficult time getting the heat to move around your house, before the BTU numbers start to play into it as a strong concern. Especially when heating through floors. That's why some just end up with 2 stoves in the end.

yea, any of the P series are workhorses, but, admittedly they more cater to the "I just want heat" crowd....the Allure is more a "pretty" unit, where, while heat may be important, the aesthetic appeal might be up there too......the Absolute63 is available soon as well, digital touchpad, as well as cast iron looks.....and 63k btu/hr. I dont feel comfortable commenting on the Enviro......just dont know enough about it.

LW what is the street date for the Absolute63? I don't see Harman formally advertising it to the public yet.

your probably right..but, unlike cell phones where everyone wants the next one out right away even though they don't need it,
pellet stoves are not cheap priced or something you replace every other year or so cause a new fancy lookin shinier one comes out.. my take anyways..
I;m a Practical kind of guy but if they come out with one that has a little Robot attached that will go down the basement and haul my bag of pellets every day, then we're talking. all the rest is fancy window dressing but with the digital controls , I can see the 'Allure.... see what I did there..:p

Russel, Do you use a programmable thermostat with the Quad?

If so, Remember that the older Harmans aren't very thermostat friendly(IIRC there are only a few recommended). The new digital stoves have many features built in that mimic that of a programmable stat. Something you should think about if you want to idle the stove down while away or sleeping. Save some pellets too........

As a working stiff, I love my programmable stat..........

well, the OP is buying new.....
I kinda agree with you, my P61 is on its 18th season, never did auto-ignite, doesn't matter to me. Very few folks shelve well-working Harmans for new, latest and greatest units.
The new digital touchpad allows the user more functionality, doesnt require a DDM, so the end user canmore easily diagnose issues and change setting that werent previously able to even be set.....and of course, if it gets messed up, there is always the "factory reset" button.......Im thinking of me messing around in regedit for my computer there.....:faint:

Thanks for that. Russell - may be worth waiting to take a look at that one too? If I were getting ready to buy a new stove, I would want to see and research that one too, especially with it coming out so soon...

Yes... New Pellet stove owners would be very inclined to kick the tires on the new digital models..

Sometimes a new bell or whistle is a good thing. The program feature would be a must have for me.

Any pics or info of the absolute63?? Just to tide @Russel over until they are released. Gotta get him something to drool about! ;)

I too am a code breaker. So I must just :zip: ....... They need to make fire stop rated floor vents IMHO.

Russell You said you have baseboard heat? Maybe a pellet boiler would work for you? Or a forced air furnace to connect to those floor vents. Lousyweather is worried about firestops for good reasons. But I will let him explain!!
