Wow I am amazed! I just recently found the TV show Barn Builders. Lots of wonderful stories of how settlers lived.
My hat's off to your Dad and the whole family! That is a labor of love & respect to all the earlier family generations I saw this cabin in your broad axe post, and now I know "the rest of the story" Thanks Kevin.
Unbelievable! What a great story and project-it was the best few minutes of my day reading this thread. Thanks!
Wow, just wow. Best thread ever! Your father looks like my deceased father-in-law, and I so could see him doing something like this. Thanks for sharing!
What an amazing family project. I was in awe reading and seeing the progress. Many generations of new life you added to it.
So many good comments, all agreeing on how fantastic this thread is because how few ever took the time to take the step by step photos. I wish it wasn't true, but I feel we'll never see another historical thread from anyone. Never mind a member.
That is why I do take pics and such on projects. I regretted not doing so on other stuff so now I do it. Plus it gives me motivation to keep going. One step at a time if you will. You have to get satisfaction out of completing each step or you'll get overwhelmed. I would take pics to people and show them the progress and it would recharge me to keep at it because of their reactions. Sometimes like a "held accountable" thing that you didn't want to disappoint someone if that makes sense.
Thank you so much for sharing. Preserving your family history was certainly the most awesome thing to do. Your grandchildren are going to love seeing history for real and not just read about it. What a lot of hard work.
