My wifey will get them for me, And even help dredge em down to the bunker for restackin. She's an old farm girl(Eeek- Must be careful how I say that!!), Helped with hay and firewood all her life. To her, Its part of stayin warm. And much easier than firewood too.
Chows must have changed in the past year or so to call them Low Ash.... always had a muck load of ash burning them.. Hot but quite ashy..
They are much better than I remember! My glass is clean barely any ash after two days and they are pumping hot heat! Not as good as propellets but close.
Technically, they are "low ash".....less than 1%..... I would bet if you weighed the ash of one burned bag the ash percentage would be around .5%....give or take
Compared to what Pete has available? Could be considered low ash. By volume or weight...... Tully should try some Michigan's if he wants to see gobs of ash!! Horrid stuff, Much worse than chows IMHO!! 2 bag of Michigan's filled my mason jar where Chows were a bit less than half.......... But thats volume and thats not how they measure ash. Just a visual. BTW, I didn't see where anyone called SC low ash. Just the greenways...........
Michigan's were a pellet that pushed it really close to the 1% limit. IIRC they were in the 0.8% range?? All the places that carried them, Don't bother with carrying them any more. Yes, They sucked that bad!! Even worser than Penningtons.
Michigan's were high in volume and I expected the weight to be way out of spec, But weight was above average. But not over the spec of 1% IIRC. Basically 2 times the volume, But only slightly more in weight of an average middle of the road pellet(ect chows)... So I'd say lots of ash but light in consistency per say. Unlike tree cycle which had lots by volume and was heavy in consistency...... Tree cycle is still the worst premium pellet I have ever laid hands on.
They were basically the next town over from me. The neighbors did them in. IIRC there was constant complaints about noise, vibration, smell, etc...and the fact that they threw anything and everything into their "mix".
There's actually two Michigan Wood Pellet companies. The one in Grayling MI makes a good Pellet but the MWP everyone thinks of is Holland I believe and they SUCK! I cleaned my as pot daily with those I mean literally every night it was full... A good Pellet in my stove is a once a week cleaning to give an idea just how bad American Pellets and Michigan Wood Pellets are... They are on par with each other.
Yup they varied by bag to a rediculas extent..I thought I had found the best Pellet bag ever made on the first bag ( not kidding ).... The second bag was literally ash and the third kept jamming the auger in my stove the 4th and 5th where ok at best.
Never did find them over here...... Heard a few(actually more than a few) complain badly about them. I was thinking Penningtons were the worst around lately, But maybe I should say the WF inc??
