st croix and pellets

    Cleaned the stove and refired after ~5hrs flame became lazy and just did not look right. Shut down and found burn pot had the biggest clinkers i have ever seen from them instant heatless pellets. Recleaned stove including LBM and now all sems well with the world... see pic very very bad...

    Usually the versa-grate will take care of that but this year I have had two different pellets do the same thing in both of my stoves.

    That sure is a purty blue.....That's crazy, I wonder what the hell that is??????

    don't know what it is but it was soft and broke easy when squezzed.

    Interesting, color could be from chlorides or minerals in the wood. But it would need to be a lot to show color in the ash. Usually its just funny colored flames.

    Curious if there are any visible signs in the raw pellets themselves?

    No pellets looked normal abit long but normal.

    Those are some MONSTERS you have there!! Pretty blue too! :)

    Clinkers from my Easy Heats looked the same. Had some green amd blues. But those had a lot of plastic in them too. Looked more like a bowl of Lucky Charms cereal. ;)

    The way my kids plow through them, and they are all teenagers, I probably should by it by the ton....
