Surprises me how much do you like to ride? kids can ride in field here a foot anyway... not enough in the woods yet... and these aren't new valuable sleds... newest one for kids is 95 skidoo 380... more than enough motor for any 12 year old!

I'm guessing the problem is that all the snow that has fallen has been powder so even if technically there is enough to ride, you get down to bare ground pretty quick. Don't think any of the trails around here have opened up - although up north, maybe some have.

I went out to the farm this morning and whacked up a nice mixed load of ash, elm, and oak. The ground was frozen enough and the snow was slick so it made easy skidding out in the open for easier loading. Then I tackled a big dead oak. Plan was to notch it and hopefully the 40 mph winds forecast for tomorrow would push it over. Went down way easier than anticipated. Lots of widowmakers up top had me nervous.

I like riding but not when it's a rough ride, I could go down the road but that's about it.

just realized that sounded like how much do you enjoy riding? was trying to say how much snow do you need to ride on and enjoy the ride? I was a kid and ol man 82 (we all called him gramps) we rode with... liked a good 2 feet but his sled an indy lite.. was 5 years old and looked show room.. I don't think it ever went over 30 mph.. we stopped every 10 miles or so so he could have a few puffs on his cigar... learned a lot from him..

Ride slow, pack it down, and the base will stay a long time. He's got fan cooled sleds, they really don't need much snow to run, just enough to lube the rails, and not rut the ground up from the runners.

There's a 32 degree temp difference between here and the south part of the state....about 100 miles away. :loco:

    35 vs 67

We always like a good ten inches of snow before we start, with this fluffy stuff even more. We need about eight inches of the wet heavy snow and then some cold temps.

I don't think they'll send the groomers out until they get a foot or so of snow depending on what type of snow.

Friends came over to snow shoe on our bush trails. Came back and said about 2 1/2 feet on the trails. Snow Federation started grooming the trail across the road from our driveway. Saw a few sleds on it today. If this continues at this rate, we are gonna have a chit load of snow this winter. plowed another 10" off the driveway a little while ago.

Had a late start today and just came in from cleaning all the snow up. Cleaned the boiler out yesterday when it was empty. Cleaned up the floor in the basement. Cleaned out the horse stall for the wife yesterday while she was busy with other things with kids. Cleaned up some stuff in garage. That will be enough cleaning until tomorrow, thank you very much!
