    That pooch has the brightest eyes. Things sometimes are just driven by fate. Once we built our home, we have alway had a couple dogs with us. They add so much to the family. We have had big dogs and little dogs. Both are fun. I prefer the big dog except when I have to take them to the vet for immunizations. They see other dogs and think they need to visit every one of them.

    Yeah… taking an old "buddy" to the vet to be put to sleep is gut wrenching. Have done it with 2 very tired/old Siberian huskies… we we're crazy about those dogs. I held them both as they drifted away… was a mess for a week after each time. Only thing worse, is not doing it when it "has" to happen, and a dog suffers terribly in the meantime. None of it is good… :zip: … except having had the time with them of course :)

    Well said. I lost a good buddy a little over a year ago. His name was Oscar and he was a German Shepherd. The best dog I ever had. Smart, obedient, and super loyal.

    It's never easy when they are gone/have to go.

    I can still remember, like it was 10 minutes ago, walking the last husky around her favorite sniffing spots just hours before her "appointment". Felt like throwing up all day.

    Hope you understand what liking your post meant.

    It's hard to do those types of things. They become family rather fast. We are still looking at different breeds. I want another GSD or a Retriever (Labrador or Golden). She wants a King Corso/Mastiff.

    We are big dog people. Given your statement that you had 2 Huskys. What is your opinion on their demeanor? Good around kids? Still listen, even when their nose is on the ground? (Some dogs forget they can hear you, when they smell something intriguing).

    I totally understand your "like" post.

    Siberian Huskies, we had them for a total of 22 years … lessee… beautiful animals… can be great around kids (like most dogs, it's all about how they're raised)… stubborn as hell… require LOTS of training to get them NOT to do what they do best, which is run (if you don't want them for sled dogs)… lovable… shed at least 4 dump truck loads of fur per year… can be trained to be "off leash" with lots of patience and elec training collars… did I say lovable beautiful animals?
    We down sized with Gizmo (20 lb American Eskimo) and couldn't be happier. Our son and wife now have 2 beautiful Sibes… so anytime we need a fix, we head over to their house…:D
