Just think about the amount of power it takes just to make that thing move and that will give you an idea of the total power it has. One can tear down lots of stuff with that thing. I was never lucky enough to run one that big.
Looks like the roadway was saved by dropping it on the dirt. It would be a pavement eater with those tracks and weight.
that's what the gas engine is for I've run one as awesome as they seem that sucker will break your kidneys
I think they probably start better than the new ones. Fire the pony up and let her run for a half hour or so, it warms up the oil and coolant for the big motor, plus the exhaust acts as a preheater for the intake air. I didn't know if my D6T was going to fire this morning. The computer won't send fuel to the injectors until the oil pressure reaches a point, and the batteries must be getting a little weak. She was just starting to run down and she finally fired. It wasn't even that cold, about 5 above.
Obviously the expense of adding the gasser with all the newer emissions constraints is why they went to block heaters and glow plugs. At the time when diesels had minimal technology - it was a nifty add-on that solved the problem. Our Cat telehandler at work has no block heater and struggles with glow plugs below 30. Even more frustrating is the glow plugs will not even engage if the ambient sensor is above some set point
Did it tear up the deck or was that just slabs they put on the deck to protect it? The slabs will get torn up rather than tearing up the deck.
