This weekend I went to visit with the girlfriend and her folks and decided to go and do a Yuengling tour. She is about 40 mins from the brewery and it was well worth the trip. It took about 45 mins to do the tour of the caves and the brewery and they let us take pics and look at everything (Saturday was a non production day though so no moving bottles but still very cool) When done got a few decent sized samples off the tap and the bar was open afterwards. I bought a case of Black and Tan before we left as I'm guessing that is going to be the freshest beer I will probably ever get to buy.

Very neat and I would recommend it... Plus it was free! ***

***Disclaimer: Free tour does not include the can koozies, t shirts, bottle openers, Utz beer chips, signs, neons, tap handles, hats, train sets, glasses, pitchers, growlers and cases of beer that you then have to carry back to your truck approximately 10 blocks up hill in 20 degree weather after drinking at the bar. ***

Pretty Good, I drink Lager and Lager Light every once in awhile but it was neat to try some others on the tour that I was hesitant to try a pack or 12 pack. They had 6-7 beers on tap and their Black and Tan is a combo of their Porter and Premium so the tour guide mixed each one by hand since it isn't on tap. They have their version of an IPA (Yuengling IPL) which was different but pretty good.

You can't ever complain about beer, definitely not Free Cold Beer right from the source. I would do it again.

Yep. That's the one, Pottsville, PA. In the middle of the Coal Region, weird azz names, odd spelled towns, up hill both ways (literally) kinda place. The brewery is literally cut into the side of the mountain so they could have caves for keeping the beer during the aging process to save on refrigeration They have their big brewery about 2 miles away in Mill Creek but still considered Pottsville, that's where a lot of the production is done and also one in Florida. Our tour guide said they are working their way west so keep looking for Yuengling out west. She said the only state that will probably never see them is Utah because of their laws.

I have a little head start on you, I can be in PA in about 20 steps from my yard. Great Lakes would be a neat one to do too, I just can't stand any sized city. I am in Pittsburgh a fair amount (45 min from me) and I dread it each time I enter it, I know Cleveland is similar but no real need to go up there a lot.

We stop there in conjunction with our annual trip to Cabelas in Reading. What a weekend-sporting goods and beer!
