    Hello
The old cap seems to be leaky and the Harman Accentra pulls the smoke thru the stove and makes a real Smokey smell.
The new cap looks like it will seal better than the old cap and there will be no smell?

    Anyone seen this problem?

See pics of old 2 bolt cap and new thumb screw cap below.

Ok, I thought you may have seen the old cap in a few installs. I have not seen many ICC Excell installs here but most have the new cap and they work super well! The new cap has the thumb screw that pushes the seal together for a nice tight seal. The old cap just has 2 bolts in the side and really does not seal very well. In this case the owner has a super sense of smell and the smell burns his nose so he would rather throw the Harman away if it smells even though no one else can smell it. So in this case the problem is the venting and not the stove. As a temp fix I taped the cap up and of that fixes it which I think it did, then we will replace the cleanout T with the T that uses the new cap.

there have been a few improvements over the old pipe.....I am not exactly sure, but think its been like 3 years since the changeout. The newer pipe has a "t" gasket, where the older pipe had a chevron gasket....also, the inner sections (the stainless steel part), on the new pipe is slightly belled in, so the the inner pipe doesn't cut the gasket as easily when folks forget to use some sort of lube to slide the sections together....Ive played a bit with both, trying to get them to work as a hybrid (a guy needs one piece replaced, but its the old type, which is no longer available), and I came to the conclusion that with the new pipe, the male end works with the old gasket, but with the old pipe, since the male end isnt belled in, has a tendency to cut to new gasket in the female end.....

Where can you get the new style cap? Does it have a part number or manufacture?
    Thank you
