    I agree with what you have done Shawn. Certainly it would not be good if the roots got into the drain field.

    It's not so much as the roots in the drain field; rather, it's the roots in the drainfield pipe that re-plans your weekends!

    I tried looking Norway spruce and drain fields. Seems they need to be at least 30 ft. away from the field. The damage they do is as you said, roots getting into the pipes.

    I've had the unpleasant experience of replacing lines that were plugged with roots.

    Digging by hand nonetheless!
