Decided to bench my new burn pot for the time being. I don't have a spare pot frame and it would need modification to accept the thicker walled burn pot I fab'd. Enough modification such that I'd have concerns I couldn't use it for the original if needed. I have enough spare pots that I can keep it going this season no problem...in the spring I'll look to fab an improved frame to house the improved pot.

I did find the time to implement a frame change I'd been wanting to make for some time. Always hated how the air flowed through the frame to the front flap and back around to the frame. The original design required the door to be pulled real hard to gat a decent seal, but this leads to the front door getting distorted over time. So I decided to install some directors to better move the air without needing a death-grip seal...also added some thin rope gasket material...this mod made a significant difference for me as my door has been re-surfaced several times...

I was thinking out loud on a mod for the actual big finish door. I want to make a direct access to the fire door and ash drawer. I hate opening the big door to get access to the fire door & ash drawer and leave behind some ashes and smoke which gets into the distribution air. If we have a recessed portion for two mentioned components in the big door would be awesome. I wouldn't mind loosing a little of radiant heat for the direct access. Something I should bring up to Fahrenheit designers.

    Shut down the furnace to fix a couple of things, it was getting to warm in the shack so I jumped on the small projects in a jiffy. I've taken the duct apart to fix the fallen O-ring on the 10" damper. Did some modification on the top burnpot to increase airflow to the glass cleaning. It was kept clean for a 2" rectangle of the bottom of the glass so I must be on the right track of things. I squished the air outlet in half to pressurize the flow more. I also increased the air to it by reducing another 10% on the over-fire air. I also tighten the little air leaks of the top burnpot . Will report back on the results when I fire it up. Rye seeds do make clinkers;

My fantec damper did the same thing. I don't think they're designed for the heat produced. I got a new back draft damper from Fahrenheit.

Stuck it back together with ultra-copper high-temp silicone by Permatex. Time will tell if it's a success! Wasn't aware Fahrenheit sold them, go to know:yes:

I have a spare pot frame (actually almost all components) if you pay for the shipping? It is yours. So long as I am in line for one of your stainless reburn plates.

Ok...but your pot is different than mine...right? I have the single piece v-shaped pot. Anyway to check with Mark at Fahrenheit to determine if pot frame is still same?

I'd need all your spares anyway if I built a pot for you...need to make sure all the pieces fit together :faint:

I'm finding EVERY piece needs to be re-engineered to accept the thicker pot/pusher/door material...objective is to make them life-time pots (at least 5+ years of service)

The extra modifications for the heavier gauge material is required, don't ask how I know:doh: and now you:D
Did the set-up for the LBT for my DT-M vent, still the modified elbowed takeoff to do:yes:
And a snow shield for the air intake, first design with nearby material. Will probably make it longer on the sides to make sure no snow gets in the air;)

Take a pic of your frame...I'll know once I see it...I'm now intimately involved with mine...unfortunately...

It's split (bottom halves) and has a flat section about 1/2" wide on the very bottom.

Pic will come once I shut it down this weekend. I have some extra parts in the garage I can check and my dealer had a shed of old parts (going back to the original clinker cutter I could probably buy for cheap)!

I'll take pics this weekend with the pot removed. I'm almost positive the frame is the same as the new pot was a direct drop in.

No actual frame. But I bet he has one.

I'll do my best to get us a couple of them. I have a bunch of spare pot parts. But because he is out of the Pellet stove business ? I bet I could get the couple dozen pots/frames for cheap. Even if we just used them to make better parts for each of the different style pots?

I did shut it down today. We have colder weather and some snow moving this way tomorrow .

Gaskets on the top I added. Also added them to the back of the 2 bottom pot halves. And I sealed that bottom door shut. I see absolutely no need for that door. It's just a GIANT air leak that makes the furnace run terrible. I can go a month to 2 months and not need to remove the pot to clean the ash inside the frame. That door was a thought for people who never remove the pot. Well if you do that? After the first season? You'll probably have big issues and need a pro to come service the stove. But if you're not removing the pot? You probably need a Pro and they won't use that damm door either!! :) So it's useless in my opinion. Unless you want an air leak. :D

yeah...definitely the same...if you have the time see what you can do...but we'll have to modify the frame in order to get thicker pot in there (unless pusher/arm/door are resized - but that's way more work then grinding a bit of material from the frame). Working on a spare is definitely a better route than hacking up a working set :faint:

I'll swing by there one day next week and see what he has and how much. I'm thinking it will be pretty cheap.

My BIL bought his last unit (a demo floor model heating his whole 3,400 sq ft space) and when I picked it up I seen inside his shed. He had all kinds of parts. Dating back to the air wash not coming through the little inlet in the door.

I'd be interested in parts for mine too. The exhaust manifold with access to the exhaust impeller comes to mind. Any burnpot parts too.

Hey Ivanhoe, I'd love the exhaust manifold that allows you to access the exhaust motor with the manifold in place. I had inquired about it when I did a bunch of upgrades to my unit, however, if I recall correctly, it would only work on the newer unit where the exhaust chamber from the burn box to the manifold is of the newest generation.
