    Yeah, that's an impressive burl!

    Welcome to FHC!

Don't worry about the bad English. We ruin the English language here every day, sometimes on purpose, and sometimes not. ;)

WElcome to the forum Duvekot and worry not about your english. You are doing just fine.

I'm hoping fishingpol sees this and thinking he may have a good idea of its value. ebay might work out for selling it. I too would be torn rather to leave it in one piece or cut it up to turn out some beautiful bowls or such. Good luck.

I can picture a flat top cut out of that and it being the base for a glass top coffee table. Man that would be a conversation piece for sure.

That is a fantastic piece you have there duvekot. I would probably leave it as a whole and sell it off or loan it out to a museum of natural history or forestry that would be able to display it. It is really an amazing display of what nature can create. There is great value in displaying it for the public to enjoy.

If it was smaller, I would cut each nodule out and turn it or carve it. You are only realizing half the beauty in the form overall. The real gem could be what lies underneath. Burls can also be hollow and brittle and not much use. I'll tag thistle as I usually look to his advice and knowledge for wood working and characteristics. And welcome duvekot.

Duvekot - Welcome to the site! What an interesting burl! What interests me as well are all the moose racks you have! Any more stories on those?

I didn't see one single Moose all summer. The last two I saw were in the month of May, winter ticks are hitting them hard. NH Fish & Game say they have upwards of a hundred thousand of them on them.:(

There is moose here every where, they are realy my favorite animal ( king of the forrest) sometimes i see about 20 of them in one week and sometimes just nothing. I also have a feedingrack back of the house and they will come out to get some food pretty regulary. Most of the time the deer comes and i started giving them names! (They are all called henk)
I dont hunt so long there is food in the shops , but i like target practise ( got a little shooting range on the back of the property)
The moose anglers i get them from all around , i clean them get them on a plate making them looking nice, and sell them.

    Have a nice day people!
