Ive had this double red maple snag hanging up for a couple years now. The first piece that finally came down this summer was the one I had been the most afraid of, because it looked a little punky and appeared to be pinning the bent over tree into a springpole. It must have had that one pinned for a long time, because that tree just appears to be growing that way now. The second piece was hung up in a nice sized cherry, and I've been wanting to get it down cause I don't want it pushing over the cherry. I blocked 3 nice 8' saw logs off of it, but the top was still stuck and I had to get a rope on it to pull it down. I also cut up the other small maple in the pics and another one over by my "8 maple windfall" that happened this spring. Total haul was around 3/4 cord CSS for the weekend.
Hi Shawn, good to see you at it. Need to get it in gear myself if the wet ground around here will firm up.
So far in this thread we have some hard wood, some nice looking stacks that some may say are perfect, and a girl named Amy who wants credit. Nothing but trouble ahead for me here. No comment. Good chance I'm just on the wrong forum again.
I started CSS red maple for the 17/18 heating seasons too. If I get two more loads processed I think I'm good to go if the maple seasons as advertised.
Nice job Shawn. Love me some Red. I like to give it at least a year to dry, but it does dry fairly quick.
Shawn it is no doubt a good thing for you to finally have some time to get out to the woods and woodpile after what you've been doing the last couple of weeks. And Judy says to give Amy a pat on the shoulder (I asked why the shoulder..) for doing a good job of stacking. Probably jealous. I won't let Judy stack wood!!!! She is good at a lot of things but wood stacking is not one of them.
