Took a couple of pictures behind my house from my play this weekend! Got rained out for the most part yesterday. Pic makes the pile seem small
Slept in til 6 this morning made coffee waited til almost 7 for it to get light enough to see went out and stacked half a cord, split up four wheel barrow loads of uglies I had laying around and cleaned up the splitting area by about 845. Loaded the truck up and the little guy around 11 and I went to my parents whose neighbor had a 45' ash and 50' black walnut to tend to took care of both trees full clean up got them blocked up and on the truck and back home by 3 with a half hours lunch break in there somewhere Got home and off loaded the truck just taking a break now I'd say it was a good day. Except the part I tossed my purple marking paint spray can and punctured it on my saw chainand that I didn't take any action pictures!!!!
This weekend featured work and play. Cutting and splitting ! Really... just happy I got to use the smilie for the first time since I joined up! Went from this... To this...
This was actually kind of play but I'll call it work so I don't get in trouble from the home boss. Found a little winch at Tsc for cheap, a couple pieces of angle I had kicking around and an hour this morning so here it is I've got some big blocks and rounds to take care of and thought it would help when going vertical. Next project might be to add a short jib and a skidding ramp when I'm splitting horizontal
Got out for an hour yesterday and today. Mud season is here, so I could only get a few blocks out of the home they are in. Ruts were so deep the front axle of the tractor was starting to drag. Have to wait till some frost sets in. I did get out this morning and split the few I got out. Gotta love arctic muck boots
How do those bad boys hold up? I want to get some since my old boots let in more than they keep out. I was concerned about the muck boots tearing?
This is my second pair and they are relatively new. The last pair I had lasted about 6 years. Not a leak or tear in them, I left them outside for a week in the rain and they got moldy. A little pricey, but super warm and dry. You likely will sweat in them more than they will ever leak.
Spent an hour cutting this morning. Used the 880 for the big stuff, just because I can. Nice part is, it makes the 461 feel like an 009. Mostly hickory and a small maple. Looked forward to this all week.
Quartered up the pile the new winch is awesome and even noodled a couple with the Husky and the Ol' 133
It's funny how that happens I run my 55 rancher 20" all day or the Ol 133 34" all day and don't think much of it but run the 55 after the 133 and the 55 feels like the toy saw my two year old has
Only had an hour this morning but got a few split (first picture) and stacked (second picture) plus couldn't resist a few more pieces after I stacked the first pile (second picture small pile) and even axed some of the trimmed slices (third picture)
My goal with so much to do is spend at least an hour with wood each day on weekend. Got in my hour, but I am feeling like crap and sweat through my clothes. Luckily most of this will not require splitting. Evidence as always
Decided to start breaking down a collection of logs/branches I got from my sister-in-law. Mix of oak, sassafras, and black birch. Cutting/splitting/stacking for the heating season 2017-2018. About 1.5 cord worth. Getting ready for the Pats/Rams game in a bit.
