Nice setup. Last year, I had an old coal stove which needed a lot of attention.

I asked the place where I purchase them from and they said they would have them through the season. I might probably pick up so e reserve in january depending on my usage.

Your call. I usually start with a seasons worth plus a bit. Trust no one but yourself, things in fact go wonky.

I burn a little less than 6 tons a bad winter. I started this season with 7 Ton, 35 bags, plus a full tank of #2 oil. I'll top off the oil before our first bad snow storm.

Driveway is up and downhill both ways.

You guys are burning for your primary heat. I have an unheated breezeway which is my mancave. The pellet stove is secondary heat which in minimizing my oil usage. Worst case, I close the door and freeze my azz off watching TV.

Jay, Many of us here have been told they stock em all season. Some seasons they can. Wonky seasons as David mentioned(extreme cold-Oil bust ect), They often fall short of having enough to go round to all. New customers are usually odd man out. Definitely don't count on a BBS to have em all season. They start pulling stock mid March early April

Only took me until the second season to get caught in a shortage. It was either burn bedding pellets or turn on the electric heat. We burned bedding from December until late February until a local dealer was able to get stuff shipped from out west. And it wasn't cheap either. Since our 3rd season we have made room to store more than enough to get through a full season. And have learned to purchase when prices are lower(spring and summer). You won't talk to many hear that purchase as they go. Most usually have a full stash by the first frost as shortly after prices start creeping up and cold season brings out even higher prices. If there is a pinch(shortage) You will likely pay even more.

Last season we had an over stock. Due to cheap oil and unusually warm weather. This season is expected to be colder, But luckily oil prices are still unusually low. So a shortage is unlikely. But all bets are off if oil starts going bonkers. Just some keys you should keep an eye on. And keep an ear out here, We usually get some tips on what the markets is up to. We will sound a warning if we think it might be getting wonky... Hopefully the warning isn't too late.

edit: You can disregard seeing you don't plan on using pellets for a primary heat source!!

Then there are things like getting trucks in and out of places,he*l can't get packages in here at times. Shipments to your supplier gets stuck in Chicago on a railroad siding. Feed and needs two seasons ago ran into that. As I said things go wonky. Plant fires... and on goes the list

Some of us burn for primary heat. I basicly stopped doing that the season before last. But will likely do it as close to primary this season simply for therapy strength exercizes for stroke recovery.
