Finally got my new Blaze King Ashford30 and chimney installed today. I'm so pumped. I'm like a kid in a candy store. First burn is underway.

Front loader that corner install should work out nicely.

That stove is HIGH on my wish list whenever I can swing changing stoves.......again.
We'll need running commentary (well, I will) on how you like it, how it burns, etc., etc.

    Thanks NYC.

Fire box is 2.75 cu. ft. and yes that is the blower cord.
I think it'll work out nicely for us. I originally wanted the stove in the center of the wall BUT the wife wanted it in the corner. I think she was correct on this one(there's been many others too).
Papa Dave, I was torn between this stove and Woodstocks IS. But settled on the Ashord because I love the classic look and the dealer is only 25 minutes away. I'll work on the burn times for you once I get dialed in after the first few burns to cure the paint. Can only do this when the wife won't be home as the smell will really bother her.

I'm excited for you. Looking forward to reading about your experiences with the new stove.

When I was researching a new stove a couple years ago, one that I really liked was the Ashford 30. My existing hearth/chimney/thimble setup prevented me selecting any of the BK stoves. Really love the BK thermostat concept; being a soapstone lover, it would have been tough to go to a steel/cast stove after using a soapstone stove over the prior 25 years.

Sorry Grazer that I'm just now replying. It is a single wall pipe and I've been second guessing that decision. I think I'm going to switch it out for the double wall as on my second burn in the stove today that wall got hot. Any thoughts are welcomed.

The second burn got started today as the wife is gone until tomorrow shopping with the girls. I'll get to do my first over night burn. Wow does that thing ever really stink.

If you look at page 7 in the manual, it shows a distance of 16.875" from c/l of pipe to side walls in a corner install. Looks like you may have that, but double wall would help quite a bit to keep the wall from getting hot.
I didn't notice a mention of 2X wall to reduce CTC though.
    Page 12 has clearer drawings.

ETA: "Clearances may only be reduced by means approved by the regulatory authority"

How far from the wall is the pipe? The manual is somewhat confusing here as it says to go by local code or the pipe manufacturer except in Canada where you need 18". I have always thought that single wall needs 18" clearance.

I think this is right up there at the top of the "You Suck" category. Nice stove/setup. I am now green with envy. I will need a bib for the remainder of the day for all the slobbering I will be doing.

Good looking set up Tbone, that is the best looking BK to me. I would venture to say you'll find that the t-stat on BK's is the cats meow. As far as dbl wall pipe goes, I have found that it helps best on long low burns keeping the chimney warmer for proper draw.
As far as the stink goes, on your third or so fire up don't be afraid to crank up the heat and keep it there for an hour or so. You have to cure all the paint to get rid of the stink and it is heat activated. Enjoy !

Thanks for the replies PapaDave and concretegrazer. My clearance is in compliance as its about 17.5" so I know I'm good. I think its just me being a worry wart so for my own peace of mind I've ordered the double wall.
LOL.......thanks colin.p. I can honestly say I'm glad to actually be in the "You Suck" category. I hope you didn't drown yourself for all that slobbering.
Thanks Todd2! Yes, this past Saturday the got a good cooking to cure the paint. So I think we are good from here on out dealing with the smell. I'm really happy with how the install turned out as it looks great. I'm liking the t-stat feature. That's one of the things I liked when looking at stoves. I'm going to be switching out the single for the double wall pipe. Just peace of mind.

Thanks yooperdave! No Lopi electric start here. The only credit I can take for hearth is picking out the style and setting it in the corner. It was made to order through the Blaze King dealer I got my stove from. I wanted to build my own hearth but me being honest with my self I knew I didn't have time to take on that type of project at this time and get my stove put in. It turned out really nice and glad I did it.

    Yes it did.
If you have a temp gun, shoot the wall and get a reading before changing out the pipe. You'll be pleasantly surprised after putting in the 2X wall stuff. Wall should barely get warm from that distance.
    Oh yeah.......you suck. :p:rofl:

Saturday was my first over night burn and I think the stove performed pretty well. I loaded it with 7 pieces of Ash. I'd say they were small to medium size splits as that's all I really have. I got about an 11 hour burn out of that load having the t-stat only dialed back about half way Id say. The main living area stayed around 75 degrees per the wall t-stat and the other rooms were comfortable. I use the furnace blower and t-stat(programmed to turn on/off periodically) to circulate through the house. This does bring up a question I now have when some of you talk about your looooooow sloooooow burns. Are you doing these type of low slow burns in the heart the cold winter nights? I don't think that will be possible here and keep a warm comfortable house with out using the furnace to kick in sometime in the night doing the low burn. I'm sure house layout and sq ft plays a part. I've got a cape cod with just under 3,400 sq ft.
