We're still not seeing proper winter temperatures here. Just "mild" and wet, temps between 2 and 5 C. Not uncommon here though.

Thankfully a good fire in the morning and one in the evening soothes my FHC-soul. Been burning uglies and other random wood.

Built a fire this morning, then let the stove go cold since the oven was on for about 6 hours. Will load it for an overnight in a few hours.

Been mostly mild here except for the few days with strong wind earlier this week.
Burns have mostly been on-offs just to put some heat into the house... don't need to burn continuous yet.
    So... wait for it...

    Larch!!

Burns clean and actually pretty hot when taken from a stack put up 2.5 years ago.
Saving the 2.5 year old oak and locust stacks for later in the season.

Like thewoodlands, I somehow was able to get off the lazyboy......

Loaded the oakleaf with a small load of pine kindlin and birch. In another hour I'll add some overnight wood. Currently 29°F, and it won't get much colder, with snow.

Had to let the stove go out while cooking the turkey here, too.
Forecast didn't call for it but got up to 48ºF outside.
Still kinda warm in here but I'll get a load of pine and maple going anyway and that will be it for a couple of days.

Maybe a quick short pine load in the AM .

50º outside is too warm for a fire. I'm not wasting precious hoarded wood, even my pine, to have to have the windows open to be able to breathe when oil is still just $1.75.

Right at 32 now. Ash and Box Alder burning. Possibly some snow transitioning to freezing drizzle/rain in the morning.

We're out at our cottage on Lake Erie. Rainy and 45. Have some ash and silver maple going in the lopi, struggling to get it below 75 in here. No insulation at all but with the wood stove and the oven going plus 15 people it's toasty. This is where my hoarding obsession started about 20 years ago. Happy thanksgiving to all.

36 OAT now. I did a partial load of elm and basswood about 1pm, went to Thanksgiving at my friend's mom's house, watched football, and got back home about 8:30. Loaded the stove up with wait for it.... Elm and basswood and am enjoying the steelers vs colts.

    Go big Ben!
