    Umm, speaking from experience here-that strap is probably there to hold the bed rails together...?
    I strapping is not tight now, but I had the same scenario going on with my old rust bucket. I would also loosen it as I loaded the truck as much as I dared.

    But the truck has tears in it's eyes!
